My Walmart has dropped the Endurance for a new 20k Purolator

I also asked in regards to the new PG made Mobil 1 filters and according to PG they do not supply the new Mobil 1 filters which is interesting because it does look like a PG design but Mobil's website says Highline Warren.

Yes this is what I figured because of the date codes.. I have not seen PG customize that for anybody. Mobil or Highline Warren is just using some other factories they have connections with it seems.

As theorized in another thread, it looks like Highline Warren is going directly to the factory just like PGI does. Could be the CAFI (China Advanced Filtration Inc) factory that PGI also uses. They didn't need PGI as the "middle man" ... looks like Highline Warren is the middle man for the Mobil 1.

Yes. IMO Highline Warren is acting as the importer and distributor. We’ll get some c&p’s soon but I’d bet money the filters are VAFI made just like PG. Highline Warren owns Service Champ and those oil filters are on the VAFI list.

I think Highline Warren is the middle man for Mobil 1 since Highline Warren is taking resposibility for the Mobil 1 warranty on those filters.
If I had to guess Highline Warren is simply licensing the M1 name. I doubt XOM cares to get in the middle, and maybe they even asked because they did not like there name on what was being made previosly? My guess also is that walmart is the biggest retailer for M1 and since Warren already has a strong relationship with them it made sense.

Pure guess?

Mobil always contracts someone to get filters made with their name on them. Apparently Mobil 1 dropped M+H who was making them, and now went with Highline Warren. Maybe too much bad internet chat about M+H made Mobil 1 filers made them look for a new supplier. I'd think no matter where Mobil 1 filters are sold, they will be coming through the Highline Warran supply chain, no more M+H made Mobil 1 filters.

Hopefully it is the same factory and QC, now I am curious if the new Mobil 1 M1-101A has the bypass valve but currently my Walmart does not have new stock it still has a few old stock left.

Definitely going to need someone to cut these new Mobil 1 filters open.

I thought someone posted a photo or two of the new Mobil 1 off the shelf, but don't recall if it said Made in Vietnam on it, or China? Advanced Filtration Inc has a factory in both countries, so if AFI is making it, it could be made in either or even both depending on filter model.

Vietnam and South Korea.

Here’s the recent one that’s show Korea.

Yes, the BOSS marketing has not-so-mysteriously changed from 20k miles to 15k miles FOR THE SAME FILTERS.

I mean exact same filters. Older BOSS boxes said 20k, new ones for identical PNs now say 15k.

The logical explanation is, IMO, that Wal-mart demanded the supplier not offer a filter that competes with their 20k mile exclusive filter. Thus, the 20k gold purolator and the BOSS is now only 15k when it's probably the better filter (not wal-mart-ized)
Interesting notes, I've not kept up with that Boss change. Yes, I agree the Boss is better with their SmartFusion reinforced media. Filter world is moving quickly these days it seems.

Boss is probably better how? Doubt the Boss is going to be better efficiency than the Purolator Gold unless the Gold uses screen door media.
Maybe not better, but shall we say, no worse-- despite the 5k mile lower claim.

I doubt there's any actual difference between the BOSS and these Wal-mart Golds that isn't negative for cheapening. But I'd love to be wrong in my cynicism about wally world.

I don't worry about "mileage rating" (ie, holding capacity) because to me efficiency is more important for my use. I don't do very long OCIs ... 7500 miles about the longest I do. All the filters I use can do that OCI easily.

Even though there is no published efficiency info on the new Purolator Gold 20K, I'd bet its' better than the Boss's 99% >46u ISO rating.

i’d like to assume from my C&P that they’re somewhere around the 99%@30um range versus the boss at 99%>46um.

I ran Microgard Select and it had a bypass valve when my Chevy has the bypass valve built in to the block, and it unfortunately seems that might also be the case with the new Mobil 1 filters because Autozone lists them as having a bypass valve
what is the vehicle and OEM filter number?
