Was this a Ebay car?

Also I'm surprised you did not get stopped for all the black tape on the license plate!

It is a 1982. First year for the turbo engine in the coupe. I have a whopping 120hp!

Found it listed on ebay by a private seller, but it hadn't sold. Made private arrangements and it worked great. Apparently in CA, the tags and registration stay with the car, not the owner, so we did a transfer of liability and I assumed the car. So now it seems that I may have a CA-registered car (I have NJ insurance on it) through next year.

Cool. NICE find!

I've been looking at Motor Cycles on Ebay and wondering how it goes.

Thanks! Bill

PS: So you took the tape off the plate?

I would love to add one like that to my current Mercedes fleet (of one). Very nice find; I am jealous.

Nope. "S" in the old Mercedes nomenclature for sedans meant "Super." Wikipedia is wrong on this one.

And not to be pedantic, but the word is "pedant," not "pendant."

That model, with the gas straight-six M110 engine, was my first Mercedes -- an '84 Euro model with the big square headlights (and a level control for them), plus a rear fog light. Mine, in dark blue with that same palomino interior, was solid and quiet on the street in Denver and at speed. You'll love that big black steering wheel!

Yeah I came across the boards for the MB's and remember seeing some of your older rides. Very nice find, and love the color on it.

G-Man

I did not get this from Wiki, rather from my not always totally reliable memory.
Google "Mercedes Benz Sonderklasse", and I think you'll see that I was correct.
Doesn't really matter, though, since the English meaning is "Special Class", pretty close to "Super".
Anyway, the coupe is gorgeous, and I have always admired old school MBs.

Wow, you really love old school classic MB.

I would cry if I had a car like that and some careless idiot crashed into me.

That big wheel is one of the things i first took a liking to when I bought my first one, a few hundred thousand miles of driving and about 7 years ago. Since then, w123 cars have served me well!

Were you able to keep the euro lights in the USA???

I replaced the sealed beams in my 240D with Hella H4 E-code lights.

Your MB is from the era when the MB was head and shoulders above most other cars. My daughters 2004 MB has been troublesome. She won't buy another MB, but yours is great.

Smart move - that is what I always do. Was just shopping for a new set of cibie or hella lights. cibie has a slightly better beam pattern, but are $$$.
