Today, worked on flushing the brake fluid. Don't know when dad changed it, but sometime in the not too distant past he replaced the master cylinder and the right rear brake cylinder since they look pretty shiny. The fluid was looking a little sludgy, though. Found out flushing with the vacuum bleeder is a little tricky, the master cylinder is under the floor, so gravity bleeding is not possible. Got the old, coffee colored brake fluid out, fresh fluid in, and brake pedal feels firm. Also had to top off the transmission oil again. Seems it's got just a wee bit of a leak, but I don't feel like pulling out the whole rear end to change the rear seal.
Feeling a little adventurous this evening, road trip time! Not just around the block this time. Actually went to a gas station for the first time since its long hiatus and learned the secrets to filling it with a modern gas pump. Note to self, flip gas handle upside down, and don't go full speed on the pump or you might get gas on your shoes. Actually got an impromptu car show when a guy came running up inquiring if it really had a V-12 and saying what a cool car it was. Went down to the roundabout and put about 5 miles on it this time.
