But your post shows what failed was the inner seal not the media.

Not sure what he actually means by "inner seal".

The board guru told about USCAR36 which was written on a Motorcraft in another thread. Aligns to USCAR36 it said on the can. This is why people were asking about the date probably. So Motorcraft has noticed the issue and time marches forward, not back. Not sure why hasn't been mentioned here yet.

FYI ... last time I looked at new Motorcraft oil filters on the store shelf a couple weeks ago, I didn't see any with USCAR36 text on the boxes or on the filters.

USCAR36 was on at least 3 of the 5 Motorcraft filters I sent to Adam a couple months back, they were from SuckMart. You can see the results in his posts on the Motorcraft filters.

Do you recall which model numbers they were?

Zee, I will swing by the local SuckMart tomorrow, as I want to see if they've dropped any of the oil clearance prices any more, and get some pics.

I found these C&P threads on the last 6 Motorcrafts that Stude did. I didn't see USCAR36 printed on any of the cans - unless I'm blind.

But yeah, if you want to try and find some at SuckMart that would be good. Like said, I have looked and never see USCAR36 printed on any box or can when I look.

Only seen one photo on the 'net with it printed on the can. When I looked, I looked at both the box and cans and never saw it printed on either. Looked at half a dozen filter models all made recently, saw nothing about USCAR36.

I had an FL820S tear very similar to this one. I reported the issue to Ford and the dealer wanted to do diagnostics. I said no thanks. Shortly after, the report vanished from their system. There are many alternatives for The FL820S. I see no reason to take a chance on this filter.

In light of this thread, I could not resist the urge to compare a Motorcraft FL820S to a Ford Racing FL820S, and to cut open the new Motorcraft I had in stock. As far as I can tell the date code for the Motorcraft is 1/4/19, please correct me if I'm wrong. Date code for the Ford Racing version seems to be 5/9/18. Main comparisons for my personal information were pleating and tapping plate differences. The Motorcraft tapping plate weighs 6 ounces, while the Ford Racing tapping plate weighs 10 1/4 ounces. Big difference. The media seam on the Motorcraft is glued with wider pleats at the seam, and the Ford Racing is crimped. Motorcraft filter has black adhesive while the Ford Racing has yellow/off white adhesive. Lots of difference between the two. Enjoy the pics.
