Shellguy, I think doing a cut & post on the CarQuest R85372 is a good idea. They are about the same price point as the FL820S and they are readily available. I just did a search and it does not appear anyone at BITOG has done cut & post on R85372. I will see if I can get to it this weekend. I will let you know on the Hastings. At the moment I have more things to do than time to do it.

^^^ Says it "Cuts filters from 2-3/4" - 5".

If you wanted it to cut even smaller filters, you could drill two new holes in the red plate and put the rollers even closer to each other.

That's a nice cutter, but a bit pricey.

Yes. Smallest diameter would be about 2 3/4". Largest diameter would be almost 4 5/8".

Without putting the real filter in it would be tough to measure.

Zee,

No need. Longacre already drilled 2 holes 3/4" closer to the cutting wheel. All you have to do is move the rollers. Therefore the minimum filter could be smaller.

What is wrong with this filter? The offset pleating is there to massage the molecules out of the oil. It is a Puro proprietary system. I don't see what the big deal is....

Well, the massaging action is so good the media wears out and they tear like this one did.

Torn Motorcraft FL-820S

Otherwise, the FL-820S has all the features Ford thinks we need on their engines.

Is your sig line true?

"Massage the molecules out of the oil".

Wow. The stuff people write.

I seem remember another poster on here from a while back that also called me "kiddo", and had an ego as fat as yours. Hmmm, I wonder who that was?

Ehh, I'm probably mistaken. I mean, who would go to the trouble of making another screen name just to give the appearance of being a different person?
