I went ahead and bought a FL-820S filter for use with my first run with Mobil 1 5w30 for my Crown Vic.
It just so happens that the 20-30 ST2 filters were ALL sold out.
The new ST2's use a different bypass valve (basically a plate w/ small holes on the bottom of the filter) vs the older bypass valves which resembled the FL-820S valve.
Anyhow, The ST2 is vertically shorter than the FL-820S by maybe 0.25-0.5" while the ST2 is heavier than the FL-820S.
What could cause this difference in mass? Is there more filter media in the ST2 than the FL-820S?
The FL-820S I bought has the red silicone anti-drain back valve.
