.....is a joke. Had two dopes on the phone that had no idea their EP lineup has changed and could not answer one single question. The guys that work in the industrial lube department are very knowledgeable. The others sound like they were picked up off some back road in west Virginia.

That is what is nice about Redline oil they like their customers. Usually a person calling the industrial number has a brain.

Hope you never go to West Virginia

Redline has the absolute best customer service. They are a small shop that's why. Even amsoil has become very corporate over the years.

I thought you would have reported an improvement. Condescending, sarcastic, know it all's comes to mind along with a few other words that would be censored out. I really thought they might have changed since I wrote their oils off a few years back, because of their tech support people. Oh well, no great loss to me. Thanks for reporting. RL is first rate. Honestly I didn't care for the Amsoil people either, but they were much better than XOM's team.

I never expect much from tech support from any company in any industry these days, and I'm rarely disappointed. It really makes an impression when I do occasionally get someone who knows the answers, and it makes me very much more likely to purchase their products again. It's too bad more companies don't understand that.

Matt Jacob and some guy Luke from the industrial team are both excellent. The other folks don't seem to know anything.

Amsoil used to be like RL but as they have grown they too have changed. I'm not asking for formulation secrets, just basic questions.

Mobil has been issuing a survey for the past year or so when you go to their website. I will make note of this.

I only continue to use their oils because they are among the best available.

I have had mixed results with Mobil tech. In the last 3 years I may have called them 5-7 times. A couple of times thier answers were not helpfull at all. Once a little rude. Other times they were excellant. Kinda like a box of candy. Never know what your gonna get.

i realize you called tech, but seriously when i call a large company, i count my lucky stars if they can even speak english

In the early 1980s I called Amsoil and they were @*&% the consumer as far as their phone service went. Amsoil never had an 800 number so to me they didn't want you calling them.

Generally I would agree with you. The guys on the Mobil 1 line typically respond the same way regardless of the car that you drive. The response is use the viscosity recommended for your car; after the warranty is up you can go 10 on M1 or HM and 15K on EP. You get that no matter what question you ask.

Recently in asking about the sludge prone Toyota Camry, a friend got some actual legitimate advice. The Mobil 1 tech support guy explained why the sludge ocurred and advised against running M1 (or any other oil) more than 5-6K in the sludge prone Camrys. Given my experience with M1 tech support, I wondered if this might signal that the end of time is near.

Now to me that was sound advice. Sure beats engines blowing up or possible long term damage as a result of running oil or a filter to long in a sludge prone application, then issuing warnings and hope everyone gets them. I'd rather lock the barn door before the horses get out, not after!
