Again, anecdotal with a sample of two, in different parts of the world, etc. But nothing is preventing you to go ahead and scratch that itch... Have fun.
20wt viscosity is only used bc of CAFE. Before cafe Honda recommended 5/30 or 10/30. And if you get your hands on a euro manual, Honda currently recommends 0/20 for best mpg, or weight of your choice. ACEA A/5 B/5 or A3/B3 API SL. Obviously Honda engines still love ZDDP and a way to get that is Euro spec oil of A3/B30w40 accomplishes nothing special here, you have a basic 1.8 Honda motor that is not stressed out at all. This makes 138 hp at the crank, what justifies using a thicker oil over 0w20/0w30?
Thin oils are only for CAFE. In other parts of the world, 0/20 is not popular and expensiveI can see from the analyses that a xxw40 makes no sense or analyses are sometimes worse than with the thinnest oils. Maybe I should try another one and have it analysed. Honda has been successfully building engines designed for such thin viscosity since the beginning of 2000.
Wow, I have the same engine in my 8G Euro Civic (250 000 km). Your UOAs are amazing. By the way, did you have to replace the timing chain yet or do you still have the original one? This engine is really a masterpiece.
Why would that be astonishing?I have another analysis. It is astonishing because the values of the wear elements are almost always the same high or low. This engine is really a masterpiece.
