Where do get these oil analysis done?
I'm in Belgium and can't find any over here that are reasonable in price.Mobil 1 belgium does it and charges 130euro.

Pre pandemic it was cheaper for me to ship them to the US and have them processed there. The trick was to find a "flat" bottle, so shipping stayed reasonable.

Just now, my new analysis arrived shortly before the 400000 kilometre mark. As you can see again impeccable values. In addition, the thin base oil, which is always considered unstable in some German forums. Mobil 1 is the measure of things for me at price performance.

0w40 accomplishes nothing special here, you have a basic 1.8 Honda motor that is not stressed out at all. This makes 138 hp at the crank, what justifies using a thicker oil over 0w20/0w30?
20wt viscosity is only used bc of CAFE. Before cafe Honda recommended 5/30 or 10/30. And if you get your hands on a euro manual, Honda currently recommends 0/20 for best mpg, or weight of your choice. ACEA A/5 B/5 or A3/B3 API SL. Obviously Honda engines still love ZDDP and a way to get that is Euro spec oil of A3/B3

In Service Manual i can see, ACEA A1/A5/A3 in 0w20/10w30/5w30/0w30/10w40/5w40/10w40 is allowed. Full saps will be good for Long oil Chance Intervalls.

I can see from the analyses that a xxw40 makes no sense or analyses are sometimes worse than with the thinnest oils. Maybe I should try another one and have it analysed. Honda has been successfully building engines designed for such thin viscosity since the beginning of 2000.
Thin oils are only for CAFE. In other parts of the world, 0/20 is not popular and expensive

This engine is really a masterpiece.
Wow, I have the same engine in my 8G Euro Civic (250 000 km). Your UOAs are amazing. By the way, did you have to replace the timing chain yet or do you still have the original one?

As for the 0w-20, I also have a 9G Honda with R18Z4 - this second car came with 0w-20. Usually, the engine is almost inaudible when the engine is warm and the engine is idling - much quieter than R18A2 in my 8G. However, after approx 6000 km on the Honda 0w-20 oil, just after driving fast (140 - 170 km/h) for quite a long time on a highway during a hot summer day (40 deg C), the idling engine became audible. The sound and vibrations were similar to a cold engine. This has never happened when the oil was new (less than 5000 km on oil) and this also never repeated when using the 0w-30 ACEA A3. The combination of 0w-20, longer OCI, high outside temperature, and high speed was not healthy. I use Ravenol SSO 0w-30 ACEA A3 since then.

This engine and transmission has never changed anything. The valve cover was only opened to adjust the valves. Up to the mileage of 320000, I always changed the oil only after 20000 kilometres. The engine running sounds great and the vehicle never lets me down. Clutch and alternator are also the first as well as the complete exhaust system.

I have rarely read longer trend analyses that almost always had exactly the same element concentrations
