Hey there.
Here my analysis report range of my Honda Civic FK2 1.8 I-VTEC R18A2 Engine. This car has already use Mobil 1 0w40 since 20000 kilometres. This car has become only 20000 kilometres service Intervalls, not earlier. From new to 20000 kilometres there was the factory fill 0w20 in it.
What are you saying ?
greetings from Germany

Phil

Why? Both results are really good. How should I use an oil which so many Viscosity improvers in a turbo direct injection engine ? Why should I use a 0w20 here, the results are more then very good ?

Thicker oils bring more heat on the Engine components. If 0w20 no good viscosity , I have more ppm on wear metals. I could not see where is the problem of my analysis? Where do I have too much iron oder Aluminium or copper? I cannot see the problem.

M1 0W40 VII content isn’t particularly high. ESP X3 may be a suitable choice for your type-r

if honda 0w20 is anything like TGMO it would be plastic city

TBN over 10 for an almost 20000Km OCI? Impressive. Am I reading it right that the car has 350000Km+ ?
Yes, this car has only all 20000 kilometres became the oil change. EVERY 20000 kilometres, not earlier!! Best engine oil for me, for this Engines which are no direct injected engines.

What do you think ? In future I should take this Engine oil again? Or is it a good choice to change the oil type? Which would you prefer?
This engine has no turbo charger und no direct injection, it is an old school engine 😉

I think any MB 229.5 approved oil will do fine, whatever you find the cheapest. Your UOA is showing the oil is still in good condition, so I wouldn't change a thing. Clearly you're using high quality fuel too.

Here my new analysis from my dayli car. If you would compare the other results of this paper, you can See that i can use this Engine oil longer than 10000 kilometers.
If you calculate the wear down to 1000 kilometres, the 20000 analysis is better 😉

In some German forums, silly talkers are who think that a 0w40 is a "polymer bomb" and is not as stable as a thicker base oil. I think I can refute these blanket statements more and more. For me, Mobil 1 is still the best!

Good results.
Unrelated question... How fast does that Civic go on Autobahn? What is the fastest comfortable speed, and what is the absolute highest speed you were able to reach?

The top speed I've ever driven was 226 km / h. For some time now I have been driving at a moderate speed of 130 km / h on the autobahn, but unfortunately I have a larger part overland since I moved six months ago. therefore possibly the higher proportion of fuel in the oil.

my car is still serviced by Honda and is serviced exclusively by Honda every 20,000 kilometers. I made a statement of costs in another forum, if you are interested I could do this here too.

Hold up... Is 226km/h (140mph) your top speed on the R18 Civic? Or was that YOUR (not Civic's) highest speed reached on different vehicle?

This Speed was With my 2008 1.8 i-vtec, the Same car Like in the analysis. This is 10years ago, at this Time the car was new 😉

Holy schnitzel. Impressive. I had a 2010 Honda Civic with same 1.8L R18 engine, and fastest it would do is ~200km/h. I guess I just didn't have enough of straight road to truly max it out. We need Autobahn in USA...

The report looks good. Aluminum was reduced. The oil is much thicker than we use in USA for that car but your dealer installs it so it seems OK for your driving. Has been OK for 350,000K,right?

0w40 accomplishes nothing special here, you have a basic 1.8 Honda motor that is not stressed out at all. This makes 138 hp at the crank, what justifies using a thicker oil over 0w20/0w30?
