Fine but that doesn't change the fact that M1 EP 0W-20 (PAO-based) is far superior to PPPP 0W-20 (GTL-based) in terms of resistance to oxidation and oil life. You can go 20,000 miles or more on M1 EP 0W-20 but with PPPP 0W-20 don't even think about exceeding a 10,000-mile OCI. I have an internal document that shows that vanilla M1 lasts twice as long as PPPP and the old PP in the Sequence IIIE oxidation test. Interestingly, PPPP and PP lasted the same in the same test, meaning PurePlus GTL had no improvement over the old Group III formulation. And that's vanilla M1. M1 EP should last three times as long as PPPP.
You're comparing apples to oranges here. M1 EP 0W-20 is a PAO-based oil that's in the ranks of Amsoil Signature Series etc. There is really no comparison to PPPP's GTL base oil, which is a better Group III but still a Group III.
I can't post their internal document but here is a public research article by them on how PAO compares to Group III in Sequence IIIE and more:

Hi.
I am comparing those 2 because they are easily found at Walmart. I noticed that although people are saying Mobil 1 EP is a PAO oil, but I still find it burns oils. Besides the fact that it can go longer OCI, seeing it burning oil, is a dislike for me. But I know I can't go wrong with either. I am just here want to hear opinions on what others have to say.
I chose PPPP is because it is cheaper and I do OCI at 5k. Wanted to see how great PPPP (GTL) compared to the oil school PAO Mobil 1.
Thank you.
