Mobil 1 cartridge filters

I don't question your sincerity and can understand why, on face value, some would question this design change. People like metal end caps and center tubes. Fram Ultra users would often cite it as one of the advantages over other filters. I don't subscribe to that theory nor do I believe one is superior to the other. I've never read any emperical data that suggests otherwise. We all have the opportunity to buy what we want. But trashing what you're leaving shouldn't happen unless there's solid evidence. Lack of metal may be that for you.

Just to be clear, not trashing it. I’ve been using Mobil 1 oil (with few exception) and their filter (cartridge and non cartridge) for past 20 years. This change got me curious. Solid evidence? Lol, its like proving that one oil is better than other, impossible, so it will definitely be opinions…

I could care less if they have metal end caps or not. Both of my vehicles use cartridge type filters. The OE VW filter and Mann OEM do not have metal end caps. I’m not going to waste my time trying to find brands that do. The Ford OE, Motorcraft OEM and WIX/NAPA Gold do not have metal end caps. They are all rebranded Mann filters.
Furthermore, I don’t buy my automotive filters at Walmart.

I have used M 1 filters for many years.. the last few I purchased seem lighter and different.

What would you guys pick if not the mobil 1 ?

I am running a ford 6.8 gas and a 4.7 toyota v8. I believe they are the same filter number.

Looks like a Toyota (denso) oil filter now. I don't see anything wrong with it.

How can the guy know by holding it what the media is made out of?

Does that filter work for the 4.7 v8 from 2007 ?
Looks like this one does ... expand the vehicle fitment info in the link below.
