There has been a lot of confusion on who makes the new Mobil 1 Extended Performance oil filters. Many think it's made by Premium Guard Inc (PGI) because the construction looks the same as many PGI made filters. I sent a message to Highline Warren asking them if PGI is involved with the Mobil 1 oil filter, and this was their answer. Highline Warren and PGI are not connected to each other.

My question sent through the Highline Warren website "contact us".

Highline Warren's response. Only Highline Warren is involved with the manufacturing of the Mobil 1 oil filter. They are also shown as being responsible for the warranty of the filters on Mobil's website - no PGI involvement.

Who does Highline Warren use for their manufacturing?
Since the Mobil 1 oil filters are now made in Asia I'd think Highline Warren works directly with those factories to manufacture the products. Highline Warren has manufacturing sources all over the world. Why would they employ a middle man like PGI when PGI is competition in the oil filter world.

The odd thing to me is that I can't find any data saying HW has manufacturing facilities in South Korea. They have about 21 factories in the USA, that's pretty easy to establish. I'm reminded of Apple. They designed the chips in their phones/tablets, it's their intellectual property, if the chip is defective it's handled by Apple, it's called an Apple chip, but they've leveraged the physical foundries owned by TSMC and Samsung (IIRC) to physically produce the chips under contract. Can't help but wonder if it's similar for HW.

This China factory shows they supply both PGI and Highline Warren, so HW does use Asian factories. I'm searching S. Korean factories too, but I also think that some Mobil 1 filters under HW are made in China too iirc.

Sources state PG handles the manufacturing.
PG doesn't directly do manufacturing in Vietnam, China, etc they contract out to VAFI and AFI which is who Highline also contracts out to.

They use the same factories, same/similar designs.

PG does own a manufacturing facility in Mexico called Interfil that is the only facility PG directly manufactures in.

Mobil 1 filters are no longer manufactured in the USA by M+H, that agreement has ended, it is now Highline Warren who has the agreement.
You nailed it. Has the agreement meaning they bid out and contract a manufacturer for them.

Mobil > Highline Warren > PGI > VAFI/AFI. Makes perfect sense 😄

My theory is that Mobil wanted someone who could make the filter better quality than Mann+Hummel was doing. "Built to a higher quality than the previous manufactures" as the email from Highline Warren mentioned.

This is a search for Highline Warran on the ImportInfo website.

Go down to the "2026-04-25 ONEYSELG48704500" entry about 1/3 down the page - 4th entry that's not blurred out. Scroll all the way to the right and you will see this - screen shots below.

Shipment from S. Korea to Highline Warren in Long Beach, CA on 4/24/2026.

Note - Mobil spin-on oil filters.

Edit add - all of these shipments of Mobil spin-on filters were from S. Korea. There are probably dozens more in the blurred out entries. Looks like you need an ImportInfo account to see all the blurred out entries.
