I have all 3 of there in my possession as part of the oil filter mob initiative.

Carquest Premium and Carquest Extended Performance both Vietnam and appearing to be identical other than gasket material and filter media.

Mobil 1 filter is South Korean and is noticeably heavier, although all 3 appear to very well made. Definitely a step or 2 above any of the other filters I've bought in the last decade.

The media appears to be identical on the Mobil 1 and Carquest Premium

The Carquest Extended Performance

I've watched a few C&P of these and the Extended Performance has the white screen-like media. Other BITOG threads have been looking for efficiency data. These are the larger versions for a Yanmar diesel tractor with the typical Japanese M20 x 1.5 thread.

Awesome job! Thank you for your efforts!

So is this the best rating we have access to now that the OG Ultras have fallen? Im just looking for what's best to stock up on now that my Ultras have been used up.
If you are doing 10K oil changes or less, then I'd say the Carquest Premium (99.5% @ 20u and rated to up to 10K miles) is the way to go. I use those (stocked up before AAP went away on the west coast) or the MicroGard Select from O'Reilly's which is rated at 99% @ 25u and up to 10K miles too. If you are doing over 10K OCIs or doing two OCIs on one filter, then the Carquest Extended Performance (black can) would be a good filter since it's full synthetic and has backed media.

Ive been doing 5k OCI with filter every other OCI. On the vehicles driven most. Others I change oil & filter annually.

My old stuff gets oil & filter every other year, with approx 1k miles/year.

Is the synthetic media better at actually trapping carbon than the cellulose? If they are essentially rated at the same micron and efficiency?

For the extra $3 im leaning toward the EP. I just didn't want to go that way if they are actually coarser with a bit lower efficiency to justify the longer advertised service interval.

I like the red P-gasket on the CQ Premium :D

The Mann W811/80 is the OE oil filter on many Hyundai and Kia models. It's actually a good filter, unlike most Wix and Purolator filters. It is made in Korea and has a P-gasket. Sometimes, but not always, you will get that Korean Mann in a Wix or Purolator box if you buy a 51334 or 14459 🎲

The filter efficiency rating is what indicates the filtering performance, regardless of what the debris is made of. There's not much efficiency difference between the two Carquest filters in post 1. The Extended version is a little less efficient, but rated for up to 20K instead of 10K miles.

I worked at a garage for many years, and have done 1,000s of oil changes and have yet to see any gasket leak, P or square. Ive seen filters leak and rust through, but not a gasket failure. Other than the double gasket-user error.
I have never had a gasket failure here myself in 20+ years of changing my own oil or for others. I have heard of which is a new to me term the "p-gasket" style, would fail over a square flat cut gasket if the filter is over-tightened or torqued on. Even though the p-gaskets design intention is to act as a torque stop. I have been realizing 85-90% of what I learned in anything mechanical or mechanics and reading about designs and engineering we are being lied to. Just my $.02 cents.

It's my opinion that's exactly what happened to me years ago on a Toyota dealer quick lane express filter install. It was with a Toyota Thai Denso OEM with p type gasket on a 3.4L Tacoma. It started dripping some time after install. When I noticed it, I went back to tighten it more thinking that would solve it. Made no difference. Took it back and they put on a new OEM filter, and problem solved. On the ones with P type/captured gasket like CQ Premium I follow same procedure as standard flat gasket type, hand tight to ~ 3/4 turn after gasket contact. Fwiw, my experience with standard sealing gaskets, much the same as yours. Imo, only minor advantage I see with captured P type, less likely to stick to engine block when removed. Probably good for an inexperienced diyer. My .02

Mobil 1 is my filter choice when grabbing Valvoline Restore and Protect at Walmart. Not making a second trip to Advanced just to get a filter.
Perfectly understandable. Mobil 1 best OF at Walmart now, imo. If interested, one thing you might want to check out with AAP though, a Valvoline Restore and Protect jug and free filter bundle. What I've been seeing price right there or less than your Walmart choice. And if interested the CQ XP filter has been included as an option too.
