Carquest R85358MP used oil filter cut open

First of four on the cutter this afternoon is a Carquest Red R85358MP.

This filter was on a 2000 Honda Insight for ~3-4k miles with Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w20. If you've never heard of these first gen Insights, they are pretty sweet and full of tech.

Filter looks great! I'll be doing a comparison of this one versus an older CQ filter later.

Either your hand is huge or that's a TINY filter core! Yikes. It looks like the size of a silver dollar.

Well, here’s a better pic of my hands

, just kidding. In all reality, my hands are a slightly larger than average but the filter is super tiny. It’s probably a little bit bigger than a silver dollar, but not by much. The filter is for a super small 1.0 liter three cylinder that puts out very low horsepower, relying on torque from the hybrid pack/motor for driving. If your battery is shot, like many G1 insights on the road, the drive quality is just horrible.
