If you ever run across the CAS number for it please post since Mobil has this fluid for sale to blend into mineral groups also I'd like to know what oils will be using it .

Thought I'd bump this up after reading from Mickey _ M that Mobil will be producing these come next year. Does anyone have a guess or idea of how these AN's will perform and if they are already being used in Mobil 1 SuperSyn?

You could be right bc if I remember right, George Morrison said the basestock used for Mobil 1 SuperSyn doesn't get sold to anyone else. Maybe George was referring to this part of the oil.

Mobil will sell anyone ANY of their base oil products if you have the Mula and can handle a minimum of 55 Gal. drums.

I believe they are still testing AN formulations.

M1 could be already using them a bit. Their oils stay in grade really well.

I was just throwing around the idea. I looked at the PDS of AN's and I found the above.
 
Bump...

I wonder if this along with more Boron is what gave Mobil 1 the recent color change? When I sent them an email about it, they did tell me that it was improved for better oxidation and deposit control. 2 things AN's help.

I have 2 questions based on the above quotes.
1) Which grades of Valvoline Synpower (if any) are Gr.IV,Gr.V mixes. (I thought SP was a GR.III)
2) If Mobil 1 Tri-Syn was a blend of AN,PAO and esters then how was it improved when they went to SS.

It did. AN was one of the three synthetic fluids in the "Tri-Synthetic" formula.
 
Ok thanks. Couldn't remember. Well then Mobil 1 is now using the new PAO/Additive system which is what SS is. No one knows if they are using the AN but M1 is Esterless from the discussions we've had on here. Not sure if the AN replaces the Ester or not.

I found the answer to ques #2 using the search feature. The SS has moly while the Tri-Syn apparently did not. Thanks.

I have searched so if you have written such a paper I apologize. I would like to learn more about AN's .

The pro-s and cons. I take it is not your favorite subject matter since I take it you think esters serve the function better but it seems that AN's may be a reality in many formulations so I look forward to any writings you have on the matter.
 
If what XOM says is true, then AN's are better then esters in some aspects. They refer to diesters though and not Polyolesters. Have no idea if this is true. They might be cheaper which could be why. Mobil 1 SuperSyn uses PAO and AN's and no esters.
