Off a friends 2013 F-150 with v-6 engine. He had some work done at the dealer and they changed the oil. Looks real good for Mileage.

Put another FL-500S and some Castrol EDGE 5w30 he supplied in and on

I forgot to inspect the filter I bought last week. It's damaged...appears to have been dropped at some point. There is a good size dent at the end opposite the gasket (the bottom area of your picture), so I'm guessing that widget is possibly damaged. Curious if that would normally be a problem.

Side comment: I'm keeping the filter. Will tear it open as soon as my cutter arrives.

Thanks! So if it's damaged, you have the potential for the filter to not seal correctly and I assume oil could possible flow thru the canister without going thru the filter. Correct?

Yep. I had a driveworks filter that had been damaged somehow. That spring was broken and you could shake the filter and hear the entire cartridge inside rattling around in the can.
