would’ve been another carquest premium but OOS at all stores nearby (oopsie) and didn’t feel like going to walmart for an endurance so it was either a FS10575, M1-212a or the boss.

one thing i don’t like about these purolator based filters without a metal crimp is the pleats adjacent to the crimp. the spacing is very wide and they like to fold. i posted a torn 212a last week with the same odd spacing.

Wide pleat spacing is a big factor that can lead to media tearing at the ends of the pleat where it's glued to the end cap. The other factor is weak & brittle media - that combo is not good. Try bending one of those wide pleats over by hand and see if it starts tearing near the end cap.
