Bosch D3500 oil filter cut open

Those 300's really do rattle if the filter drains overnight.

There was a TSB involving installing a modified part issued by Ford addressing the issue. It was a replacement oil filter mounting stud having a flapper built into it. I would install one if I could locate one but they are long gone.

What caused the ADBV to tear? That looks an unusual thing to happen. Any physical trauma on the can?

On very many Purolator built Bosch/Purolator filters the oval holes on the inside of the base plate were not deburred, leaving sharp edges, which cut notches in the ADBV. Apparently not the 7317 sized ones, though-but literally EVERY Bosch Distance Plus I've cut open had cuts in the ADBV.

Interesting. Thankfully though I haven't had one fail and the truck never made startup noise except for the first startup after an oil change.

Most fuel efficient??? Hardly. It was never designed for that. I have owned a 4.9 since 1997, gets "decent" mileage but everyone has their opinion on what is great.. What it has going for it is its durability.
