Hi,
I'm currently running Mobil1 EP 5W-30 in 2 of my cars. One car is a 1997 Honda Accord EX 2.2L 4cyl. with 157,000 miles on it. The other is a 2002 Ford Explorer 4.6 V8 with 65,000 miles on it.

I'm about 9,000 miles into the Accord's OCI (shooting for 10K) and I'm getting a bit worried that I won't be able to find the M1 EP 5W-30 by the time hit the 10K mark. Couple the inability to find the oil with the high price of it ($5.38 a quart at Wal-Mart last time I checked) and I'm suddenly looking for alternatives.

A. Do I wait till I can find M1 in the stores?
B. Do I switch to another Syn?
C. Do I switch to a dino or blend?
D. Do I just not visit this site anymore and regain my sanity?

Any reason why you don't want to try GC? It can easily handle a 10k OCI. Cheaper than the M1 too . . .

How's $4.75 a Qt (PC Case Price)

Honda 4 Qt's + Ford 6 Qt's = 10 Qt's.
Gives you 2 extra for those oil check top off's
Sound pretty good?

American Oil the best part it comes to you. You don't go to it.

I am in the same boat; none of the Wal-Mart's I have checked (in Southern Denver/north Colorado Springs) have enough of the 5W30 EP to do an oil change.

You might check AutoZone and purchase it for $5.99 a quart (they have a bunch of it). The other option is switch over to Castrol Syntec 0W30 (which is $4.99 a quart)--a very good oil.

You just missed on a deal with Castrol Syntec 0w30 (aka GC).

It stayed at $3.99 qt until Dec 14. plus you could get additional $20 worth of gas with a purchase of a couple of 6-qt cases.
It pays to check out the GC forum once in a while.

AutoZone puts it on sale quite regularly.
Even at $4.99 qt it's still quite a deal.

All Mobil 1 products are short and on allocation at the Wal-Marts in central North Carolina. Some of the stores have a sign saying that the allocation will end by mid-January.

I just bought a Gallon of M1 EP 5W30 at Wal-mart Saturday. They had plenty and have always had plenty. It is NOT on the oil aisle, but on the "overrun" and RV aisle.

Nah..I'd be willing to try it. But I'm trying to get away from being so nuts about the oil/filter I use. Looking at every bottle of Castrol to check the country of origin defeats my purpose.

My wife sold MaryKay for a years. Suffice to say that I stay clear of anything resembling that type of sales structure. Not to take ANYTING away from the oil itself. From what I can gather here, it's great stuff. But, for me, it's a personal hurdle that I can't overcome.
