Lube control or auto-rx w/ Amsoil

any benefit with either of these w/ synthetic oil? I'm thinking a brand new engine here, not one that needs a clean cycle. For what it's worth its 07 duramax. I'm leaning more towards the maintenance dose of LC20 for the money.

Wisdom around here seems to be that ARX and LC are not for the same "problem".

ARX is good with sludge and hard carbon deposits in the ring pack.

LC-20 is good with varnish and helps fight oil oxidation to increase the OCI length.

It's been said that the effects are orthogonal but that they shouldn't be used at the same time. Reference has been made to one "cleaning" the other out of the oil.

If, for instance, you're trying to quiet noisy lifters the effectiveness of each cleaner will depend on why they're noisy - varnish-like desposits or sludge-like deposits.

Both are good and there's no one answer to your question.

I wouldnt, with decent oil change intervals with Amsoil or any other syntheitc will serve you just fine.

Auto RX. I know Terry likes LC20, so there must be something to it, but I have yet to see it do anything useful in the UOAs posted on this site.

There is no need in using either additive with a fully formulated synthetic, such as Amsoil.

Several Amsoil promoters here also endorse Auto-Rx. To answer your question yes you can use synthetic in the wash phase of the Auto-Rx cycle. Personally I would not waste the extra money on a syn oil unless of course it's already sitting in there and you wish to add the initial dose to your existing oil. Or maybe you have an engine spec'd for syn.
