Lets talk about new vehicles

I got a ride back from the mechanics in a forester and was impressed with the seamless gearing. Pretty darn smooth. It is really hard to argue the reliability of Honda and Toyota's. Heck my wife's 21 year old Lexus ES300 still runs like a top with no major issues.

I would like to see some long term ownership reviews on the Subarus. I used to have a Subaru Brat and it served me well until I broke a front shaft. My fault though for running it with torn boots and clunks until it broke.
How was the wind and road noise in the Forester ? I agree but I just got tired of Honda quirks although I think they are great...most anyway.
I am polarized by all of the Subaru woes. Do any of these issues remain on 2021 models except the newest model...forget the name..lol

He's a master of lengthy threads that go nowhere fast, mainly just for self serving attention grab, asking for advice but not actually interested in following any of it...

Reminded me of OP a little because he is all over the board, and the field keeps widening instead of narrowing with no end in sight. It has its entertainment value, I suppose. Certainly not against forum rules.
Some people just do in depth research, as well as follow trends among customer bases. I did this for several years before buying many big ticket items. I also tend to be very pleased with the results of it.
I have owned many and prefer them.
Same with auto stop because of the various hybrids I have owned.
Even the old Honda Element transmission reminded me of a cvt but wasn't had what I remember as grade logic. With a cvt you dont fight the hills and down shift. I am very used to them.
The Subaru bothers me from a reliability standpoint. Hard to figure out what problem areas were resolved in the latest offerings. But that oil filter mounting is tempting...
You don't fight hills when you have over 300# of torque at 2000rpm, either, in a lighter SUV. Mazda really knows what they are about with the newer turbo CX5's.

I still get in trouble for over tightening lathe jaws at work… better tight than to have a jaw fly out of a 15” chuck at 1200rpm!
I do the same and don't want the material slipping. Of course I am the boss so I cant get in trouble..lol

On throttle.........

See in front of the shifter you can put a bag of gummy bears...tic tacs..a few zero bars...and a bag or two of twizzlers.. And a few twinkies..

Subies just don't have the level of refinement you'll find in some other brands. They are noisy, etc. The CVTs have been reliable I don't know why Nissan can't figure that out.

We bought six Foresters at work, had a lot of suspension and electrical and AC issues, sold four off early they were so problematic, but the other two have been good. Go figure. No CVT problems at all under hard use, and the AWD is excellent.

My brother and i saw that in the 80's. Then it was electrical and boots.. I can't figure out why they just cant get their act together.
So we never went back to them.

To be clear … this meme was not directed at anyone …
Keymaster suggests IBTL due to the tone the thread had taken …
In fact, I’m clueless of the meme origin … seldom watching movies/TV …
Had me wondering about the meaning

Seems to persist these were all 17s and 18s. My BIL bought a 21 Crosstrek two weeks ago, I told him about the issues we'd had but he was totally fixated. His use will not be nearly as severe I hope it works out okay for him.

Ws6 not good to hear, our remaining two are at lower miles than that.

How about something from Cadillac?
I was always a Lincoln fan up until lately as I do not like their styling.
I like Cadillac but honestly without first hand experience some of the QC woes have scared me off.
But it seems this can be said about everything these days.
