I watched a minivan drive from house to house while the kid got out and rang doorbells for candy, then they would pull up 7 feet to the next house....all the way down the street. This would be an awesome motor oil test.

Do 16-17 years olds with no costumes count?

Should've thrown eggs or shot 'em with frozen paintball bullets instead. The latter will give 'em a nice costume.

You think trick-or-treaters are bad? Around here a school bus will pick up one kid in front of his house, go two houses down to pick up the next kid in front of his/her house, etc., etc. This is highly annoying if you're in traffic trying to get around that bus—and obviously you can't do it legally when its warning lamps are flashing. I can't understand why the kids can't walk a little to consolidate stops. Repeated stops also waste fuel.

When I was in high school, I had to walk 15 minutes, rain or shine, heat or cold, to get to and from my bus stop. (High school was 5 miles/8 km away.) If today's kids are the porkers they're commonly said to be, perhaps they could walk a little to catch the bus themselves.

Of course, it is a little ironic that the parents are driving trick-or-treaters door-to-door to load up on high-calorie sugary candy.

Around these parts..... the town with Nebraska's highest average income level, I hear of the fear of abduction etc. as being the reason for ferrying the vile spawn everywhere.

Whatever.

Out in Californy when I was a lad the Zodiac killer was doing his anti-social deeds. The old man allowed me to roam even after the Zodiac dude had began threatening to attack kids. Of course, the old man always reminded me to take my knife (we took them to school, also, back in those evil non-PC days) just in case.

The old man had trained me what to look for, what to run from, what to do to avoid trouble. He also taught me what to do if preventive measures were not enough.

Ol' Zodiac never came my way but if he did I wonder if he would expect a youngun (early teens) to stick him in the eye then run like a cat scalded by draining hot 5w30 Havoline?

Times have changed.

On the other side of the coin, my co-worker was telling me he showed his son how to trick or treat the "right" way this year. Both of them are very athletic and ran from house to house to get as much candy as possible. My co-worker actually trick or treated, too, which I think is hilarious. He's not a small person, but he's small and thin enough to pass himself off as a young person, especially since he was wearing a costume with a full face mask.

Anyway, the point is that they collected 13 lbs of candy each.

Now that's anything but lazy.

We have dead end cul de sac yuppie developments here.

In a way, I wish a school bus would pull down just a little bit, to let folks pass.

Instead, bus stops on main drag highway, kids get out, and hop in waiting, idling vehicles.

No! Talk about lazy, several kids that came to my house:

1) Had no costume, or
2) Couldn't be bothered to say, "Trick or Treat".

I don't mind the little rugrats; it's when you get the 17 to 20 years olds with no costume. Luckily we didn't have any this year, but last year we had a group. I didn't give them a darn thing so one tried to smack my mailbox off the post. We all had a little "chat".

Some of the "girls" this year.....scared the #ell out of me. This one girl was wearing a french maid outfit, and believe you me, she filled it up. She was with some other girls and I start talking to them by saying "aren't ya'll a little old for this?" One girl says she's only ten, I said yeah right. Then they confessed and said they were 14. OMG!!!!! I then asked them where are the parents? The one in the french maid outfit said they were at home sleeping. They didn't want to get out of bed. I asked her does your mom know what costume you have on? She said "Yeah, she picked it out!!!!" I couldn't believe that. It was dark, and late, about 2100. Somebody could have easily picked her up and no one would notice she was gone until the next morning. Just makes me sick. I know one thing if I know anything....my daughter WON'T be doing any of THAT!!!!

I love the lazy costume of the grey sweats and the jason mask and the fake butcher knife. I just tell they dont even bother. if you cant do a decent costume then dont bother T or T. one year I had 4 girls walk up and didnt know if they was suppose to be witches or hookers. they had the hat but never seen a witch wear a mini and a low cut top. all that ran through my head was. amazing what parents will let their kids dress up as. but they did have ton of candy. guess the old guys loved the outfit.

beings I have a son now. my giving out candy is over will he is 12. so I have 9 more years. so the light is off for now.

I really think in 10 years no one will do T or T. I miss the old days of when I was a kid. going out with my friends and no parents and doing it till midnight. now your lucky if anyone is out past 9 pm.
