Yesterday I passed the 400K mile mark. Wonder if I should go to a different weight oil---still using 10w30.

With things going well at 400k, I'd think that whatever you've been using is a fine choice--

Dude - at 400K you've driven farther than almost anyone on here...they should be taking advice from you!

Seriously, if it's not using oil...and it works well...then, why switch?

Use what youve been using.

Out of curiousity, what kind of stuff have you had to replace? How has the VTEC held up?

What have you done, besides oil changes, to break 400K? That is impressive, especially if you have some original equipment like the radiator.

Congrats! I hope you keep it and go for another 100K miles:)

As for oil, I agree with the others, keep using what you're using.

My boss just sold his 95 Accord 4 cyl with 454,000 KM on it. Said it was still running great, but the A/C did not work (only problem)
Can't beat 90's Hondas.

Keep doing EXACTLY what you are doing, it is obviously working.

As for the car, let us know what you have had to do to it in the 400k, what oil/filter you use and your driving habits..

A guy I used to work with had a 92 Accord with over 300,000 miles on it. He used conventional oil and USED oil filters. His dad works at a local Honda dealership in the service department, and he routinely gets people that come in at the 3 month mark to get their oil changed, with only a couple hundred miles on the oil (we're talking old lady grocery-getter trips). So he keeps the used filters and his son runs them in his Accord. No idea on his OCI, but the car runs great and burns no oil. Great car.

I hope this is a tongue in cheek comment, otherwise your BITOG Psychosis has officially set in.

There are probably dozens of the regulars here gritting their teeth, veins popping out of their foreheads, trying to stop themselves from pounding their trembling hands onto their keyboard, wanting desparately to tell you that your anecdotal arrival at 400,000 miles does not mean that 10w30 is/was the ideal oil and that you should have been using [fill in technically correct yet severely overanalyzed reason here] instead if you really had wanted your engine to last...

Keeping doing what you are doing. Period, end of story. Thank you, and good night.

I had 260,000ish on my 95 accord before I sold it and it was MINT, the thing never skipped a beat on me.

Everything has held up well, but replaced both CV axles about 6 yrs ago, replaced a radiator and both fans, starter, original alternator went out last year, did an acura CL rotor/hub conversion so brake jobs are easier, replaced the inner and outer distributor o-ring and shaft seal, and 3 timing belts---- the first one was done free since the balance shaft seal (recalled) popped out on the highway. I have used supertech, castrol GTX, Pennzoil conventional, Pennzoil Platinum, and Mobil 1. I switched to the syn mainly for extending the OCI's since I do a tone of driving for my job. It is the original auto trans, but I do the partial drain and refill twice per year since you only get 2.5 qts out of the 8 or nine each time you drain. I will post some pics tonight or tomorrow.

That just shows right there with proper care that the honda auto is a very durable transmission! You planning on going 500k with this car?

I cant wait for my cars to get up there...they are still babies but I have maintained family work S10's that have 314,000 325,000 and 280,000 miles on them but only the 280k on the original motor so far. Knock on wood.
