A bit off topic, but anyway; In my experience with Chrysler ultradrives, if you run the ATF +3 or +4 fluids, you will have no issues. If you run Dex III, it will fail. My Uncle has 240K on his 1995 Voyager with the original transmission. He towed at lot too, but did a fluid change every 30-40K miles. I think a lot of people had problems with them because of poor wording in the owners manual, which said Dex III could be used as a substitute.

Quaker State [censored]? Not sure what forum you're on. Just about everyone here, regardless of what oil they run, knows that Quaker State is quality oil. Many people get caught up in the latest and greatest products, (like when PP or Ultra came out)which is perfectly fine. Then there are the Mobil 1 diehards: again, perfectly fine! Even the M1 fans would tell you that Quaker State oils would serve you well.

That would get very expensive on my caravan that takes atf 4.
Could prolly by a couple transmissions with what I'd spend on that.

You are incorrect sir. Any modern oil that met specs and was changed at the proper intervals should offer the same basic protection.

If was was just changing what was in the pan (Probably about half of the system capacity) at every other oil change, that would be a very good practice to keep fresh transmission fluid in the system every 12k-14k miles according to his OCIs. It wouldn't be as expensive as replacing a transmission which can easily run in the 2-3 grand range for a quality rebuild with a good warranty.
I think that most here are hooked on certain oils when in fact,it would most likely be safe to say that any API certified oil will do most just fine.
I will even say that most,if not all here on the board,were given oil in bottles that they thought was the oil that they normally use and that oil had been switched with Super Tech that they would never know the difference.

changing his transmission fluid every 7000 miles would be 57 changes over the life of the 41te.
4 quarts times $3.77 is $15.08 in todays dollars. multiple that by 57 changes gives you $859.56. which isn't the real cost because at+4 (supertech) wasn't always $3.77 a quart.
cost of a rebuild is way more than $859. also the bragging rights that you have a 41te with 400,000 miles in it is priceless!!!! Mike

While it might be interesting to see, I'd say if the engine is still going strong after 400,000 miles with no consumption issues, the amount of sludge in there at this point is irrelevant.

Still cheaper all the transmission's in our Dodges went out at 70-80k. 5 transmissions.. not sure what that would run.
