My Community Coffee K Cups are about 57 cents each .
I'm a coffee snob and I get it, actually. I don't mind some instants and I use them when camping and hiking.
But in the same amount of time it takes to make a cup of instant (waiting for the kettle), I can just as quickly do a pour over with my Hario V60.

Only when everyone is still sleeping; my espresso machines are noisy.
I shared that sentiment for a long time. I tried to drink the stuff, but never liked it.I'm 77 and confess that I've never had a cup of coffee in my life. I can't understand why something that smells so good tastes so bad.
Then I started my second job. My department was in a separate building from Corporate HQ so we had one of those 30-cup coffee urns in the break room and there was a supervisor who opened the place around 6AM so he'd make the first pot. I don't know what he did to the coffee, but it was good stuff and that's when I got hooked.
Keurig for the win, once I found Barista Prima Italian Dark Roast, never looked back. A splash of half and half and a level teaspoon of real sugar and I'm good to go.
Can't remember the last time I drank Instant Coffee. Only one Keurig so far in my experience. Tasted like bad expresso.
Any coffee is better than no coffee.
I have some instant around. Some brands are better than others. I wouldn't want it much more than occasionally.
If you want one cup at a time try a french press. K-cup is a reasonable alternative - still not great but better than instant.

Instant coffee only in Chinese restaurants because that is all they ever have.
All you can get from K-cups is weak, watery tasting coffee. Yes, tried everything. Even the Espresso settings and finest grinds of strong coffee are still a joke.

Same here, pour over is about as easy as it gets. I have a plastic basket I bought for backpacking years ago and still use it with a plastic double-walled mug. I even used it when I went bikepacking last year, it's that easy to pack.
It's better than nothing. I still like a real cup of brewed Arabica.
They are closing 3 instant coffee factories in New Zealand, the one in Dunedin has been making instant coffee since 1925. Did you know instant coffee is a New Zealand invention ?

I used to make the coffee at work. I’d get there a bit early to get the coffee started.
There was this one young lady who worked with us who was not a coffee drinker. Bad experience maybe? IDK! She claimed that coffee looked like coal.
When she was pregnant with her first child, the coffee smelled so good that she tried a cup. From then on, she brought in her own mug(as did we all) and had a cup of coffee everyday with the rest of us. She was hooked from there on.
Sitting around and enjoying a cup of coffee with others creates a bond that brings people together of all walks of life. I believe that those people who don’t enjoy coffee(or espresso, tea, cocoa) and the angry people of the world need to chill and enjoy a hot beverage along with others. But that’s just me!

I grew up watching family members adding sugar/milk to coffee and was led to believe that was like a default method. Guess so when garbage stale coffee is used it has to be masked with anything to make it more palatable. Granted coffee can be an acquired taste, but is mind-blowing at what notes can be brought out from various coffees with roast/extraction techniques. With what I roast I often pick up notes like dark chocolate, molasses, nuts and occasional fruits. All naturally occurring too.
Instant coffee ? Occasionally.
But, I'm not a real coffee drinker. My coffee gets a spoon of honey and a splash of half & half.
