At first, I thought a recluse until I saw the markings.
No arrowglass unless this is just a young black widow or brown widow.

Anyway, definitely not friendly looking and the web wasn’t that big but looked like it could’ve been that fine silk pattern of a widow but just can’t quite be 100% sure.

I’ve seen many black widows, but just nothing quite like this

The photo, the spider is a little crunched up because I sprayed him with bug spray.

He was under a wood pallet where I had a delivery of bags of pine mulch delivered.

Lived in North Carolina all my life. Never seen a spider like that one. It’s probably not deadly. You’d just loose a leg or an arm if it were to bite you. Spray the area well. May be a native of where the mulch was bagged…

In case of a spider bite, especially brown recluse, clean the area and treat the area with anti itch cream (Benadryl, diphenhydramine) and triple antibiotic right away. If it gets worse, like an open sore, see a doctor.
And head to the ER….unless of course you are hoping to have an area of rotting flesh.
