what is all your preferences on HVAC/furnace filters?

I was checking out this company out of tx - place called trufilter

they look reputable and solid and also like supporting an American brand especially if they're a small business.

Lowes project source brand is a great price just not sure if they're American made.

I am giving thought into the project source Merv 8.

My hallway return is a 20x25 and the bedroom has its own return size of 14x14. not sure why the builder did this its only a single zone system.

I run Nordic Pure Merv12 filters. I buy a 12 pack to save some $$ and I change by dP.

I have to avoid 3M filters, that leaves out Filtrete. Used them once, and since I have a UV light under the A coil, the UV ate it up and it disintegrated.
I've used Pureafilter and a a few from Home Depot successfully.

I just ordered new filters 3 mins ago. Honeywell MERV 10 14x14x3 and 14x30x3 return filters. Just say no to 1” filters. These have 720 hour (30 days of runtime) on them.

the other two bedrooms dont have their own returns though.

maybe it balances the system since its a larger area.

Same setup in my house. 14x30 is out in the hallway and there’s a 14x14 in the master bedroom. House maintains 68F when it’s 95F outside so I really don’t care since it seems to work.

For home air handler - Lennox Merv 16 carbon. Best I've ever seen measured. Very expensive incredibly low pressure drop. Equivalent to a hepa.

For filter fans - Lennox, 3M, Nordic Pure.

Wish I could say the same 2 ton condenser just shy of 1800 sq ft no shade trees vinyl siding 9ft ceilings plus tray ceiling in liven and master. 90+ days no cooking with the oven no running the clothes dryer in the day time just watch the temp rise set to 73 will be 75-76 depending on the day. How about those humidity levels. Yeah it’s grossly undersized.

My house is 3000sqft with very mediocre insulation not including the 600sqft in basement (no AC down there) with a 4 ton heat pump. Your return area is larger than mine, 616 sq inches vs 696 sq inches. No issues with humidity - usually between 50 and 55% inside even at night when it can be +90% outside. A recent app update now shows run times and I thought it was running a lot more than it is to maintain 68F. On the last 94F day it ran 16 hours that day to maintain 68F. My AC air handler is also in an unconditioned attic and so certainly some of it’s capacity goes towards fighting its 140F environment.

I buy $3 filters and change them every 30 days. Couple different HVAC guys have given me their thumbs-up approval when I told them what I use and how often I change it.

I use a MERV 5 or less and change every month...
