How many Fiat 500s are you seeing in your area?

I saw a bunch on a dealer lot last time I was in Dallas; I've never seen one on the road.

I like the style of most italian products, but these little Fiats have to be one of the ugliest vehicles ever made, imo. If I had to choose between driving around in a little car like that or having my hand repeatedly slammed in a car door on the coldest day of the year, I'd go for the hand slamming.

I do hope they bring over some Alfa Romeo's though - I've always wanted one, and I have other cars I can drive when it's broken down on the side of the road.

I have seen quite a few, but they're on the dealer lot. They don't appear to be moving. I'm not the best judge of styling. I do remember the automotive press gushing over the 500, and at the time I reflected on my experience at the gas station and thought "this car is going to appeal to a very small segment of the population"...

I go through Pinellas, Manatee, and Sarasota Florida, and Since they came out, I have only seen 5 on the road. Most of them were in the artistic district of Sarasota, which did not surprise me.

In Clearwater, there is a Fiat dealer that is packed full of Fiat 500s.

I also saw one on a rental car lot.

havent seen any on the road, stopped by the dealership to check these out.

These look ok exterior wise but interior wise is horrible. Didnt even wanna bother test driving it. the sun visors already look like they were falling off. Could not figure out how to adjust the seat for the life of me or get someone in the backseat. seating position felt like a pt cruiser. clutch pedal had no pressure at all. Felt like it had too much plastic inside.....to top it off...its a 1.4 liter engine...no turbo or anything? Guy kept telling me its good on gas....well it gets nearly the same as our 07 honda. for $16,000-26,000 there is plenty more options.

sorry for my rant, had to let it out. lol

No, no, no. Haven't you seen their ads? They're studios, not dealers. Appeals to the artistic types.

they have another set of wheels they use, they are solid bright red, same color as the side mirrors. its kinda cool but i like the pictured onces more, they are classier and less obnoxious

LOL I don't expect them to catch on down in the States at all. Americans will never want to drive anything other than F-150's and Suburbans. The Fiat 500 is already quite popular everywhere else in the world, as an urban runabout.

I don't mind the car so much, but it's hard for me to take it serious with Jennifer Lopez and her dancing boy-toys being used in advertising the things. I find it a big turn off when sports figures and entertainers (and I use that term lightly) are used by marketing to try to sell me something. Everytime I see a Fiat 500 now, I see it as a J.LO-mobile.

While I agree that the Fiat 500 probably won't be a smashing success, I think your "F-150s and Suburbans" generalization is a bit overgeneralized. Smaller cars do sell well in the United States. I do think the 500 is a little too "cute" though. Of course, I'm sure some thought the New Beetle was the same, but it did (and continues to do) well.

Do you feel the same way for Ford?

Both are ugly and look like roller skates.

They are ugly as are those Ford Fiesta's which don't seem to sell well here either.

The only one I've seen in Michigan was at the Detroit International auto show last winter:

After owning a '92 Explorer for 12 years, I'm no longer into Fords (except the classic ones). Why, does J-LO advertise for Ford also?
