I am curious to how long y'all leave on different levels of filters??
Fram Extra guard, Napa silver, Wix etc
Fram Tough guard, Napa gold, Wix gold etc
Fram Ultra, Napa Platinum, Royal Purple, etc

I have kept Fram extra guards on for 7k miles.
I have kept Fram tough guards on for 10k miles. Fram Ultra for up to 13k miles. I have kept the Mobil 1 filters on for 13k miles too.

My driving is a 60\40 highway to town driving. I have a Fram TG on my Altima currently. The lady's Camry has a Fram Ultra on it with 3500 miles in it. I'm wondering if anyone has thought of or actually gone longer than 15k miles. And what y'all normally run them for too. Thanks a lot

I keep them on for whatever OCI I'm doing. If the vehicle specifies a 10,000 mile OCI, any respectable filter specified for that vehicle should be able to handle it. I usually use Wix, and those were used in the taxis back in the day for 6,000 mile OCIs on conventional.

As we see with all the filters being opened here, they tend to hold up well. Even with current filters being smaller than they used to be, they don't seem to be clogging up unless someone is negligent or something goes terribly wrong.

I change them every OCI. I would like to leave them on for 2 OCI, but it would bother me so I like to change the filter also.

Kind of like having a shower then wearing dirty underwear as they say.

I leave mine on for longer than recommended for sure. My engines are so clean I think it'd be a waste otherwise. 10k on my mc cartridges or puro cartridges. M1 I'll use the whole 15k and Wix I'll go 10 to 15k. I have never left the oil in nearly as ling as their lengths. It's killing me already cuz I'm gonna try and leave the certified 10w30 in for 5k.

10-12k for napa golds/wix for now. I'll run the A01 for about 5k in the bike because the transmission throws extra wear material. P1 should be in there about 5k, because of severe (dust) service and I know the engine has a massive amount of garbage in thesump.

For cars with an OLM such as recent GM and Hondas, I keep it in for that OLM-determined OCI. Even though Honda says to change it every other, I still change it every OCI. Usually with a mid-tier filter like Wix/Napa Gold or P1, but I've used the lower lines for the same OLM-prescribed duration (Classic, Pro-Tec/Proselect/Silver, CQ Red).

For non-OLM cars, I use a a mid- or top-tier filter for 10k or one year, whichever comes first. Wix XP/Napa Platinum, M1, PSL, Ultra, D+, etc. But I have used P1 and Napa Gold with no issues.

I've only used a TG ONCE, and only because no other filter was available for the application, but since finding Rock Auto clearance, I probably won't ever use a TG/OCOD or any other cardboard filter again. No Ecores, either. And definitely no Chinese [censored].

I might use Hastings for a 10k/one year OCI.

yes, they got some great bargains on Rock Auto. And I agree, with real filters available on the cheap, why bother to waste 5or7 bucks on those cardboard caped ones.

What he said. One filter, one OCI. I leave the filter on for however long the OCI is. Typically 3-5k conventional and about 8k synthetic.

Dang, don't let BOF see this thread, he'll be foaming at the mouth! LoL

Yeah I was thinking the same thing...

Interesting to see what everyone does with their cars and trucks. 20k on a Pureone is kinda wild.
I remember finding the Fram Ultra and I was very happy to skip messing with the filter every other oil change. Happy days were here when I bought that in late 2011

Honda has stated for 20+ years that the oil filter is changed every OTHER OCI. I do 4,000 mile OCI's and change my Tough Guard or Napa Gold every other oil change.
