I follow, interpret the owners manual.
MR2 (Toyota Filter on it now), change ever-other oil change. I put about 2,500 miles per year so it gets annual oil changes so the filter gets 5,000 miles per filter (as recommended by Toyota).
'14 Outback, every 6,000 miles with oil change. The '14 model has 7,500 intervals but with Subaru rolling the FBs to 6,000 for the '15 model year, I shortened the interval. Plus, it is mostly short trips in the mountains with the Mrs mashing the gas so shorter is ok for me.
'99 Outback: About 6K miles. Follows a similar pattern with the MR2. It gets about 3,000 miles per year (unless I do a long trip) so I swap it out every other time unless I am weary about the filter. So I do my annual oil change and the filter goes every 2 years.
