Hotel room crime scene

I'm currently in a hotel. I've been coming and going at very odd hours, like in at 130-3am, out at 10-1030am.

This morning, two doors down something happened. Was leaving my room and in the hall was a ton of cops and a bunch of suits (detectives?) all out there. One cop had a camera. No police line, no crime scene. Heard one guy say that "he checked in on the 2nd".

Went downstairs and found a ton more. Cop cars all over outside. Nothing like "coroner" or any indicative marks.

Was out all day, got in 230am, asked the night clerk. He claimed that they don't tell him what is going on because he works nights. He indicated that it is common for hotels to have a few suicides around this time of the year... (was this a hint?)

It seemed that two women were there this am, talking to the cops, perhaps somehow related. Didn't seem upset though.

So if a robbery occurred in a room, would there be more than one detective/cop?

Does all this indicate a death of some sort?

It really grosses me out if it is true that hotel room death/suicide is prevalent. I'm in a nice hotel too. It is gross that I might be sleeping in a bed that seine died in/killed thselves on.

Sorry to be so macabre, but I'm a bit grossed out right now...

A nice hotel actually has more frequent "incidents" than the middle of the road ones. If you want to find out what's going on, check the news in 1 or 2 days.

I'm really not comfortable with sleeping in hotel rooms, for a number of reasons. This is one of them. Sure, objectively, once a crime scene in a room is cleaned up, there's likely zero physical trace of what happened. But still, do you want to be the next guy who rents that room?

I feel very lucky that my job requires minimal travel. I'd much rather be at home with my family in my own bed.

So if a robbery occurred in a room, would there be more than one detective/cop.

No if a robbery it would be a call in and paper work, for the most part, unless someone is killed, it is paper work law "enforcement".

I worry more about body fluids than anyone having died in that room. Everybody dies eventually and it's not a big deal to me.

I think there was a report once that said that all the surfaces in hotel rooms had traces of feces and sperm. You should see what my wife does when we check in. She does a complete cleanup and disinfection with clorox sprays and wipes.

You would sleep in your rental car if you knew how many times people had sex on the bed you are sleeping on in your hotel room.

Yuck... now I'm never going on vacation and staying in a hotel room.

If it was as many cops and detectives as you say it was, it either way a really high profile client that was robbed, or a murder/suicide, I would lean towards murder/suicide.

Based on the description, I'd say a death occurred. I was at a hotel near Waukegan once and one of the recruits from the Naval base nearby was found dead in the parking lot. The police figured it was OD/Too much partying, but they had the whole place on lockdown and were going door-to-door to see if anyone saw/heard anything overnight.

I don't think you'd have seen this large of a presence for a robbery, IMHO.

I'd hate to think about what where I've stayed and came in contact with.I've been staying in hotels about 4 days a week for the past 3 years!

Did you know that most hotels don't wash the sheets daily nor do they wash them after every visitor checks out and a new one checks in.

So you could potentially be sleeping on the fun juice of your prior room inhabitant.

Thats why the rule of:

BYOS applies. (Bring your own sheets).

Not washing sheet daily is common practice, but after checkout? That's something that can get a franchise stripped if found.

In any case, it is probably better to stay away from the lowest grade hotel if this is your concern.

That, combined with the huge number of bed bug infestations certainly gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling about sleeping anywhere but your own bed.

I only stay in higher-end hotels from the better chains (Mariott/Hilton).
I don't doubt feces on surfaces, you really think the non-educated, Illegal Mexican maid staff cares one bit about mixing cleaning rags?

I do see them strip sheets at all hotels, I also look over the sheets thoroughly before sleeping.

I just don't like the idea of sleeping in a bed where someone ODed and killed themselves... Especially of the body sat for a while. Gross.

Oh, like the pickup truck that I saw at the auction with the word "Biohazard" written in yellow paint pen on the window of ALL FOUR doors, above each door handle?

Although the curious part of me wanted to look in though one of the windows... common sense told me to stay far, far away.

Biohazard usually means blood. Somebody must have been stabbed or shot in that truck. The best case scenario would have been a diaper change gone bad.

Having died I meant a type of a death where there are no fluid discharges during and after death.
