Honestly Honda has never been about flashy exterior design, and I've been around them since the early 80s working in Honda dealerships. Perhaps the most distinctive version of the Accord was the third generation models from 86-89. With the pop up headlamps.

But honestly where Honda always shined was the polish and refinement of the product, with great handling right out of the box and very high quality, this is where they have slipped lately, and they need to bring back the great handling and high quality hard parts.

I'm happy to see that they are FINALLY putting the US Accord back on the RoW Accord platform because the most recent models are TOO big.

And of course Honda is only one of a few companies left offering a family sedan with a manual transmission in both 4 and 6 cylinder models at an affordable price.

I think this car will be a big hit for Honda in the USA.

Essentially Honda returning to its roots to a degree, which is MUCH needed.

Agree, my old Integra GS-R handled wonderfully. The Integra Type R was (and still is) legendary for its chassis and handling.

I think it looks pretty good, although not a whole lot different than the out going model. I think they should use the 2door grill on the 4 doors as well. I'm glad to see some one finally downsizing a little. Every redesign, car manufacturers seem to make the cars bigger and heavier and I was beginning to wonder where it would stop.

Plus you can get a 4 cyl MT.

It would be on my list...

+1 due to MT coupled to a durable car. Tried the Nissan 2013 and yawn.....nice look and wonderful MPG on sticker but I need to shift my cars.

I'll be the first to admit that I have been a Honda fanboy. My Nissan has been really good so far though. If I had to pick a sedan now, I'd lean towards the new Altima though.

'86 Accord LXi sold like hot cake. MSRP was about $13-14k and sold for $16-17k. No dealer had any LXi on the lot, only way to buy one was place an order(and agree to pay $3-4k above MSRP) and wait for several months.

The front reminds me of the last gen Camry and the rear is Lexus/Toyota-esque. I'm starting to wonder if Honda even has a design team.

I saw a couple newer Pilots around today and thought they looked hideous.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I think I'm starting to like the looks of the Camry. The Altima still hasn't completely grown on me, but I'll take one with the 3.5 any day.

I think it looks fantastic. I'm surprised BITOGers aren't praising the new design more: it's everything that most new models are not: it's smaller, it's leaner, it's trimmer, and it comes with MT availability. It also continues to offer something that many sedans don't anymore: a V-6 engine. I think it looks far better than the previous version, and believe it may be one of the best lookers in the midsize sedan niche. The only other midsize sedan that I think looks as good is the new Malibu.

I like it but admit that the first thing I thought of when I saw the rear was "Hyundai Genesis sedan." However, I don't know what magical fairy land everyone has been living in with regard to the design of Hondas. When I first saw the 03 Accord from the rear, I thought "Buick Skylark." My parents bought one, though, in 2004 based on how much I loved my then still new CR-V. 8 years later and I can't convince them to trade it in. On the other hand, I don't personally know anyone that is still driving a Hyundai of that vintage...

LOL!

The front is in fact very similar. The rear is somewhat improved, IMO.

front looks 6th gen(97-02), but the pic is weird sort of animated which keeps it difficult to perceive completely.

I'm interested but will hold out until the reports file in, especially the new CVT.

I think this looks better than the 2008-2012 bloated Accord.

I second that.

This car consistently makes the top 5 selling cars. Why would you change the look that drastically?

I think Honda realized with Acura, drastic changes do not lead to more sales. Case in point previous generation Acura TL vs current generation.

There's a difference between drastic changes and designing something that's too avante garde. The TL is the latter.

It actually looks like a Mercedes.
