I prefer the Ford overall, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed with the Dmax/Allison combo. I think Ford has a lot of room to tune/refine this new drivetrain. Dodge will be interesting as well with 800ft-lb tq and its new 8spd Auto!
So......what happened to the Dodge in the tests that involve bumper sag, frame rigidity, or braking?
GM afraid of something?
Okay Howie, we get it. The 8 cylinder Isuzu diesel will out accelerate the 6 cylinder Cummins diesel. But what about the rest of the truck? Why did AMCI exclude the Ram in some tests?
Wish these tests would take into consideration such things as ability to resist body/frame corrosion, component durability at rated capacities (engine, axle, transmission, fuel pump), and interior durability. Over 250 hp & 500 ft. lb. tq, those are my main considerations.
Last 10 years, it seems automakers rely on the customer to be the lab rats.

They stopped because they didn't want to keep beating a dying/dead horse?
I wonder if maybe the frame rails are formed in the same factory. I read that somewhere. Might have just been internet nonsense but Dodge and GM have used the same parts before. For a long time the C/K1500 and Ram 1500 used the same front brake pads (Bendix # MKD369)
20 years ago, Dodge trucks accounted for only about 1% of fullsize truck sales. Now they vary between 15-25% depending on the year. It's not a big a share as the F-series but why start a comparison and not finish it?
Sorry GM. You come off looking scared. Scared is not what HD truck buyers want.
I think GM still sees Ford as its biggest enemy, not Dodge. This is probably why they compare it to Ford far more frequently than Dodge in this ad as well as many on television.
Dodge likely just isn't that big of a threat. They have solid powertrains but have struggled with everything else about the trucks for years.
The ford is still a better truck. Dodge and Chevy "allison" seem to HAVE TO upgrade the trans for just about every power increase... What was dodge thinking when they built a trans that was MAXed out at 650ft/lbs... Needs new input shafts, torque converter and a few other upgrades just to handle 800ft/lbs....Allison is not that great in the same respect that it gets upgraded every time GM bumps the power and it STILL has a higher failure rate than the ford torqshift..FOR THE RECORD I am NOT AN AUTO FAN.... MANUALS ARE better for just about everything.... just most people can't drive them.

years ago a chevy guy started railing at me about what was wrong with my chryslers. i stoped him and said. "i have have been driving chryslers for 25 years. i can tell you more things wrong with chryslers than you can, so give it a break."
