Make certain to visit all four halls. There are airplanes in that museum that do not exist anywhere else. The XB-70 being at the top of my list of “must see” airplanes while you’re there.

Make sure you see the Memphis Belle exhibit, truly stunning, 13 year restoration. I was there for the unveiling. They run a film about it in the Museum's theatre, well worth the time. The Belle is now considered a National Icon and the display area is a National Shrine to the 8th AAF, they lost over 29,000 airmen in the daylight bombing raids. The Belle was the 1st B17 to complete 25 missions over Europe in 1943. Pilot Robert Morgan never lost a crewmember in those flights, he then flew 26 missions in the B29 "Dauntless Dotty" in the Pacific Theatre, never lost a crewman there either. Remarkable place, its a 2-3 day tour if you really want to see it all. Admission is free.

We saw a lot, had a blast too. Now at Texas steakhouse and enjoying a beer

So, to sun it up it was a easy, boring drive to and they Columbus Ohio then to Dayton (more like Fairborn OH where museum and campground and base actually is).

Got gas at Mobil station outside of the base for $2.70 so not bad. Museum is mind blowing To me and I will go back soon with brother and nephews. Got great mileage going to and from also. Highest I paid for gas was $2.95 in Weirton using my Kroger perks or what they are called. Camping was fun, I brought sleeping bag and tent. Chilly Friday and Saturday night but I was fine. All in all I’m glad I made the trip. Hoping someday to explore Columbus OH as reading up on it and it’s a cool place I hear.

I can say this about these pictures: stealth and amazing engineering in pic #1

#2: amazing aircraft, shane one was lost and pic#3: got thrust?

Ohio has a lot of museums. Air Force, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, AMA Motorcycle Museum, NFL Hall of Fame, plus nearly every community seems to have an interesting museum of it own.
