I have the same engine in my CR-V. I would do an UOA at somewhere between 6-7500k due to the timing chain aspect. I would love to know, as I run the PP 5w-20 currently in the CR-V. It won't get more than 5000 miles in a year so I change it once a year, but I'd like to know how far it can go.
I run the PP 5w-20 in my Civic 10k.

I would think either one would be fine for the application you cited. Pick one and run it for a 7,500 mile OCI, then perform an oil analysis to see how it is holding up.

Both would be great. I'm going back to regular Havoline 5w-20 next. It's now the lowest 20wt PCMO available. I have the 2.4L engine in my Accord Amsoil7 and from all the UOA's I've seen, 10k miles (highway) can be done on any SM oil. I ran M1 0w-20 10k miles but never took a sample.
Yeah, I would run the Amsoil 5W-20, but we don't have it around here where I get the ASL for my truck, and I don't like ordering it over the net. I have been running 10,000 mile OCI's on the Accord since it was bought new with Mobil 1 5W-20, but all the new concerns with it have caused me to try something new.
I think I might just go with the Pennz, but I was curious if the Havoline Syn was even better than the dyno Havoline.

The stores that handle Amsoil around your neck of the woods may be able to order the Amsoil XL 5W-20 for you.
Why 10k? I'd be happier with an oil extractor and cheap oil at 5k than sweat it at 10k.
Severe service is 5k. Gives one reason to pause.
Manual calls for filters at 20k. They cost $2 each to replace, but hey...how can the manual be wrong? Toyota Mercedes and VW have some OCI regrets. BMWs call for 15k, less than ideal, imo.
Ideal isn't everyone's goal, nor should it be. There's a point of diminishing returns. Honda engines that are spec'd with 10K OCI on mineral oil don't "need" synthetic at 5000 to have a full service life. PP in my subarus goes 8000 miles with results better than the average for oils of only 4600 miles...according to the lab. Ideal? No. Sufficent? Absolutely.
Heck, I haven't even looked...I had no idea there was difficulty finding it! I remember seeing the old style bottles at Advance Auto last year, but I ASSumed with the new packaging it would be everywhere.
I guess if i don't find it, Pennz Plat will be the choice!

I cleaned out an AZ a couple years back of the rest of their Havoline synthetic for $2/qt. woooooohooooo!!!! Then I drained it from my wife's Expedition after only 3k miles. Stupid me.
