Are they "Lube for Life" or do they recieve some kind of oiling via the pressurized engine system?

I have noticed the set up is enclosed by a cover and gasket.

We have one 3800 Series I Engine that has 182,000 miles trouble free. Since thier is no problem i will not mess with it.

If the system is not lubricated via the Engine has anyone ever heard of Oiling them?

Thanks-

Some are "drip" oiled from the cam shaft. Either way, the chain gets oiled.

One of the most telling indications of "chain stretch" is loping or hard starts.

Otherwise, it's probably in good shape. The timing chain in my '92 Burb (V8-5.7L) has never been replaced and the mileage on it is 263,000+ miles.
