I had some good runs with Kendall when it had the Ti additive pack. I have not used it since, but it is likely still very good oil. I recently switched from RGT to VEP in my Rubicon and it has produced better used oil analysis versus the RGT, but when I run out, I may look back to Kendall and give it a try.

I see it as a scam. Most if not all oil is probably going to meet it. I wouldn't be swayed away from the Mobil 1 0w30/5w30 if they took it away. Same as when I bought the Redline. They were trying to appeal to people who usually had their mind made up already. I seen a post by @High Performance Lubricants on their site that talks about these "spec" oils and they seem to word it as they aren't really that impressive and I'm guessing it's the bare minimum quality and material to get there. I also question how long can they hold onto the spec before shearing,heat,etc take place. I'd be more inclined to ask on here about a product or try a decifer the data sheets and talk to others who have used the product I am interested in. Remember this Dexos was a GM thing that in my opinion used it to help recuperate costs from their disaster of a car company and the bailout. Glad boutique oils like HPL, Redline,Amsoil and others aren't bending just to make a inferior product.

What would you look at on a PDS to see if an oil would meet all the requirements of a dexos license? That's the thing, one can imagine that other oils would meet those requirements but how would you know?
My all time favorite oil is/was Phillips 66 Trop Artic. It’s just hard to get Phillips Valor or Kendall GT where I live.

I don't understand why OE and XL exists - there are comparable major brand products that provide the same performance levels at significantly lower pricing.

Amsoil originally created a second tier (XL) for oil change places. OE was not added until much later. Yes they sell. I mean no other oil companies have tiers of products(??)
If they were serious about that market, the pricing would have to be a lot more competitive.
Raw materials are expensive, I know from my discussions with Dave. I'm sure even OE costs a lot more to formulate than Supertech.

No, it just has a rather generic additive package that's already API approved, likely provided by Lubrizol IIRC. Base oil selection is still on AMSOIL to put together.
There is another oil out there not ashamed of their prices ..... Driven Motor oil. Not sure if it is all considered "racing oil" or not
