I set my HVAC controls to 72 and let it decide. Pretty much in recirc all the time during the deep summer heat like right now. I like my car to be an icebox in the 100F heat. I do hear it go to fresh air however if its in the 80s or less, once it gets satisfied with the interior temp. Not too worried about it on such a old car thats got a bunch of holes drilled in it for equipment.
Ill keep this in mind if I ever upgrade though.
