I love how everyone is bashing a car that isn't even out yet. I haven't heard ANY problems with the new Taurus yet. Lets face it, the CVPI, as solid and reliable as it is... is OLD. It is SLOW. A current Impala SS, or heck, even a Ford Fusion/Toyota camry/Honda accord V6 could outrun a Crown vic. It's crash test scores pale in comparison to even a Ford Fusion. It's time for a new car. If we stuck with the "don't fix what ain't broke" we would still be driving carbeurated, RWD, steel body, cassette deck, hydraulicly controlled automatic, no cruise control..... None of that. We would still be using Ford Trimotor, and Douglas DC3 instead of the jets we have today. I hate to quote toyota here, but we need to "Move forward".
The new Ford PI will, I bet knock the CVPI out of the ring. Acceleration will decimate it, it will get much better fuel economy, and I will bet a days wages that the FWDAWD Transaxle/Transmission will be just as durable as the transmission in the crown vic. We know by now that the 3.5L Duratec is reliable, it's been out for several years. The Ecoboost has yet to prove itself, but I have no doubt that it too, will prove reliable in the long term.
