CR ? the bunch that rated all the LG equipment so good - and I hauled it to the dump 3 years later ...

See some complaints show Mazda's drastic improvement in the last two years ? Why two years ?

Not sure what you bought, but LG pretty much has the highest quality consumer electronics among widely available brands. Their display panels are especially exceptional.

I can find a million people that had junk Toyotas that blew up before 100k, and I can find a million people with 250,000+ mile RAM trucks despite their awful transmissions and electronics.

Oh look at that, the Subaru my mommy bought for my sweet 16 (apparently, I didn't know that! Thanks for the history lesson) is second behind Audi across multiple tests including how boring the car is.

That was the other thing you listed in your signature, how some day you would like to own a Dodge Ram truck. Maybe Santa will bring you one if you start behaving.

My ex has had an ecoboost Escape for a few years and likes it. No problems so far. I'm sure they're both fine, just drive them and see what you like for yourself.
 
LG ? I bought a $600 heat/cool unit for my camp - dead in two years - saver feature was a joke - kicked in and out non stop - no wonder it crashed - big heavy clunker. I lived and worked in Korea for two years and they hauled the shiny (casket paint looking) fridge off - had to rebuild the front on the leaking washer ...

I don't need CR .. owned cars for 4 decades . last thing I took back to a dealership was a 2007 - to do the planned timing belt ...

Sorry Japanese fanboy, my Ford has more miles and has been more "reliable" than the car it replaced, an Infiniti G35.

Nothing against the Mazda - they make great vehicles too and is worth a look.


My Mazda CX-9's dipstick is stamped "FoMoCo". It has a Ford engine along with many other parts/components. It's been a great car and I'd buy another one. I also like all of the Fords in my companies fleet and would buy one of those too.

Having spent time riding in and driving both the RAV4 and CX-5 I guarantee you couldn't pick them apart. I was actually disappointed in the similarity, expecting the Mazda to be more zoom-zoomy. Of course we don't autocross so maybe you have to drive the snot out of it to find a meaningful difference. We ended up with the RAV due to a few minor likes but could easily own a CX-5. If you have any meaningful first hand experience to share please do, beyond your obvious anti-Toyota bias. Thinly veiled insults add nothing to the discussion.

My lobotomy didn't hurt a bit, how about yours?
 
I don't think either CUV would be a bad choice. Me, I'd go with the CX-5 because I like Mazdas and have an excellent dealer. Plus, in my neck of the woods Ford dealers are averse to hiring employees with opposable thumbs.
Drive them both and buy the one that floats yer boat...

Thanks for the advice! Very helpful. We have never been in a position to buy a car outright.
The Escape seems to be be what she wants.
I am leaning the CX-5.
Then the AWD. Do we REALLY need here in KC.

IMO, I'd skip the awd and reap the benefits of faster acceleration, cheaper maintenance, and more MPG's.

Worst case, you can always buy a set of snow tires if you need them later.
 
Have her drive both. Maybe keeping each other the weekend. That way she'll see which one she likes the best.

That is the plan. There are so many choices.
I have eliminated AWD as a need.
