If I had to guess, the fence post foam will turn to dust when it is flexed - if it flexes at all. If you're willing to clean everything, or buy a complete tire and wheel assembly, why not try it and let us know the result.

Yeah think so too. It looks like this is going to be a good mower. It has an hour meter on it and I'll see how many hours I get out of them before they no longer seem suitable for use.
Then I'll pay big $ for the real stuff.
It's met the goal of seeing if the mower mows. They started out holding sir for hours, put air in them, moved it. Now the worse of thee 2 tires held air for less than a minute. The other one isn't much better.

Maybe a de-thatcher hooked up to a Bob-Cat and really scratch into that dirt/grass. Be a bit time consuming,,,,or raise the grade a tad with some screened top soil in the most offending areas, then re-seed....Again time consuming though

I bought a used dethatcher in 2019 and it did almost nothing much to my surprise.

So much for that .....The CHEAPEST way out of this mess is to run the machine on some homemade metal rims. Like the REALLY old tractor rims. Will take a lot of time and fabricating, will need a welding machine. Use re-bar as wheel spokes,on the original rims, and some kind of pliable metal to make the wheel, and weld some nails to it for traction. Way out of my league on this crazy idea....but maybe another BITOG can help you. I don't know if you'll find solid rubber tires for this rider.

I got it. You can buy some galvanized steel garbage cans. Their round. And slice them up into 4" wide sections for the front, and like 16" sections for the rear, and weld the spokes/ rebar to the galvanized wheel part. Spot weld some short nails for traction, and spray paint em with black rustoleum. Yeah ! Sounds like a plan ! And you can aerate the lawn a little as you cut. Win Win !!! Now, the welding part . Do you weld ??? I don''t..... Maybe a BITOG guy can help you ? Maybe ? ( I'm not crazy am I....they did it on the old tractors )

That heavy v-twin has been rolling around on those tires for an hour and a half. Been sitting on those tires since Sunday.
No flat spotting an they're not turning to dust on the inside very much if any.

I don't get how can you create your own foam and still prevent the tire from going out of balance as your speed increase. It may not be uniform and it can easily spun around and shifting the weight inside, and never be able to balance it right.

Speed = maybe 5mph.
Therefore Ballance is irrelevant.

Some Amish around here do have steel wheels on their yard equipment. A bit tough on the turf I'd think.

Quick, go " borrow" them !!!!! They won't be tough on the turf. You just can't go Nascar cutting grass, and make sure the traction nails are not too long.
