This is a very clean and well maintained motel that I sometimes stay at on my travels. While I usually frequent the hilton brands, this one is an exception, as it is clean, nice and like a great time capsule of old-time Americana. Some pictures to give you clues. The actual date is stamped into the toilet tank as is always the case, and I verified the same with the owner...

Late 1930s to 1940s. The thermostat gives it away. That particular model was patented in 1935. The first "round" thermostats came out around 1953.

How juvenile. Perhaps because it dates from a time before when the use of rainbow colors was defiled to be an adult topic. I was an 80's baby, but I had a pair of rainbow suspenders when I was very young. Didn't mean a thing to anyone.

But my wife, baby and myself like the scheme and use of lots of neon tube lights.

Wow, I'd have said late 1930s from that art deco thermostat. Maybe they found new old stock.

Of course the motel fad was really cooking in the early 1950s so it wins by default. Can you get a gander at what kind of flourescents were out front? I guess single pin T12s.

Same time frame - Copacabana night club, Jake LaMotta, I think even Ray Charles put in some time on that strip.

Air conditioning really changed that landscape.
