Engine auto start/stop feature ending soon.

Don't like it, don't buy one. This is like most of these threads that are about preferences and perceptions, no data to back the opinions.
Easy fix. Don't buy one.

No- there is the fact that all motors not running saves gas over those that do- even if its a short time such as at a stop light. That's a fact.

Stop/Start was never mandated. It merely provided for CAFE credits so was adopted by those makers who needed that. These credits were eliminated effective 2/12/26.
Since CAFE fines were eliminated in July 2025, there was no reason to continue with stop/start anyway.
All of this is a sideshow.
The underlying legislation that created CAFE remains, only civil fines have been suspended and could well come roaring back under future leadership.
The makers know this and so can only make their product plans based upon the probability of this happening.
In short, move on, nothing here to see.

Start stop will hopefully be eliminated as well as the diesel engine DEF systems that have made trucks problematic, costlier, and dangerous to some extent with the “limp mode” when DEF reaches a low point. It’s time some reasonable goals are set for emissions that doesn’t create unaffordable and problematic vehicles.

It is nearly impossible to make diesel engines that don't create crazy high NOX emissions without SCR/DEF and also burn hot enough to keep particulate emissions low enough to not need a DPF. Of those systems, the DPF (and EGR) are by far the most problematice ones. SCR/DEF is not really a problem. NOX is pretty bad stuff, as anyone who ever set foot in LA in the 70s can tell you (it's one of the primary contributors of smog)

Complaining about the existence of limp mode because someone was lazy and didn't fill up the DEF is absurd, it lasts quite a long time, you have more than a couple of tanks of fuel between DEF fill ups. That's like blaming the tires because someone blew out a tire because they didn't ever bother to put air in it when it was low.

Oh dear. What about that shot glass of fuel saved per week? Nevermind the wear and tear and some of the worst technology ever worked into a modern day auto. My son in law eliminated it on my daughters enclave and not enough difference is fuel usage to justify it. He’s an engineer and created a spreadsheet over the course of a year.

It's actually quite a bit more than a shot glass, if you don't drive exclusively highway. In average around town driving the savings are closer to 10%. That means if you burn 20 gallons of gas, you'd save between 1 and 2 gallons on average. That's pretty substantial. And people keep saying this "wear and tear" but when I ask have never been able to cite a single instance of a starter motor failing because of ESS. In fact, the starters are often more reliable because they are made bigger, heavier and spin slower than older starters do.

Getting more common to have the DEF at the pump …
Some still prefer to grab at a box or parts store …

I still have zero sympathy for people who are too lazy to do it. If your truck goes into limp mode because you neglected to fill the DEF, that's a personal failing, not the machine's fault.
Not a problem here - those that run it wear work clothes and actually need 250/350 (2500/3500) LT’s …

So when will DEF fluid no longer me required in my Ram Cummins and when can a dealer legally pull all that "regen" Cummins smothering EPA junk off my truck so my engine can do what it was designed to do?

And will I be able to move to a State of my choosing with out the worry of my Harley exhaust being sniffed so I can renew my tag?
I my neighbor can legally burn yard debris and smoke up the entire hood but my Jetta TDI Diesel was a issue... Clown world.
