Edge 0W-40 or SHU 5W-40?

the 0w-40 A3 contains about 50% Pao, the 0w-40R contains over 70% Pao
Castrol 0w has different chemistry depend on version and market, it's the thing, specially A3/B4 most are not true synth or even mid-synth.
What in the name are you trying to say? They are not Semi-Synth oils. No MB229.5 or BMW LL01 can be semi-synth.
0W40 Castrol is at least 25% PAO, and the rest is a combination of AN's and Group III.
X-Max is at most 10% PAO.
Semi-synth <> mid true synth oil, not full true synth base oil.
MB229.5 and LL01 are even lower than semi-mid synth oil, there you have 5w30 and 5w40 MB229.5 and LL01 even with GII+ and GIII base oils without true synthetic.

Some Castrol 0w are 25% PAO yes and more, repeat, other not depend on market. This example seems not to me.

X-Max like I said have better price/quality where it's cheaper that any Castrol 0w full saps mid-synth or even lower editions. Price/quality.

Yeah. Gunnison Basin is the coldest spot in the lower 48. The record low was -51c. The record low in the lower 48 was in Montana, -61c. But on average, Gunnison Basin, some 1 1/2 hours from my place, is the coldest. It can drop below freezing in summer.
oh, thats cold. At -40C i avoid to even go outside🥶. What diesel fuel where you using, and what brand?

I’m leaning towards the Shell, too. M1 0W-40 in Australia is about 1.6x the cost of Castrol 0W-40, so not going to bother with that. Mobil 1 is incredibly overpriced in Australia. Same for Motul. Total 0W-40 is not API SP. Petronas 0W-40 is also too expensive to bother with.
Interesting that there M1, Motul and Petronas are expensivier than Castrol...
I won't say about Amsoil, Redline then...
How about Castrol Edge Professional 0w40? It's not SP, but it's the good.

Listen, you can say that sky during the day is pink, but the fact is, it is blue. So, your classification of what is synthetic oil and what is not has merit is my 5-year-old daughter's opinion about which color of tires I am going to get.
You do not KNOW< not understand, KNOW< what constitutes synthetic base and what not.
And no, X-Max is not a higher quality product.

Yes i know that, in EU they sell the same oil, but in US they have a different version (not much different)

Before getting nervous or telling about what know or not someone, you should think about your reading errors (cheap/price/quality remember) and your wrong reasoning of a product that:
- has similar or even lower quality than some competitors
- sometimes has most of fake synthethic base oil
- also more expensive
to conclude that "is less fake than most you mentioned". Very funny reasoning.
Precisely it's the oppossite, well when one knows how to reasone.
About X-Max... your reading error again. I put price/quality clearly at the end and no way, you can't see the things. Think about that.

How do you determine that?
Castrol 0W40 is $27.48 for 4.78ltr or 5qt.
Motul X-Max 0W40 is $65 for 5ltr.
So, how does that price/quality work since both are approved for the same approvals and, obviously, per your statement, cheaper in Spain? What is your determining methodology that Motul is "better?"
