Does Vice Grip Garage not know anything about Fram oil filters?

Most people couldn't even tell you what filter or oil is in/on their vehicle.
In my small circle, I know of two people that do their own oil changes. My oldest brother and myself! He likes OEM, I'm all over the place in terms of brand.

My cousin was a mechanic, so he still does his own oil changes. Other than that, I know of no one who does their own oil changes.

One of my neighbors use to change his oil on a BMW and a Tacoma but he moved away.

My neighbors look at me like I'm from another planet when cars are on ramps. The neighbors also take their children into the house because they don't want them learning new words.

I have a new Fram PH3614 coming in from Amazon soon. I plan to cut it open and see what’s new if anything. I may even start using them in this size. $3.88 plus tax instead of buying a coffee or something. Still says USA and has silicone adbv, although thinner adbv than the Ultra.

People get on bandwagons and are locked into them. There is a new best brand consensus here as an example. I refuse to budge, another example.

Ok, someone has a different view, so what as long as no one is directly harmed.

If you need more to cut - sale ends today:

Only need one to cut, and if it isn’t a fresh date, back it goes. I want to see what the latest is.
They rate it 96% single pass efficiency on your WOOT.

I guess that FRAM Endurance is their single best filter now.
They used to all be cheap trash. It's too much to keep up with and I am turned off by the brand as a whole.

Vice Grip Garage has been using Wix filters since he was just a guy working on cars in his garage and uploading it to YouTube. I've been watching Derek since before the persona and shtick became a thing. I've seen him use other filters over the years. STP, Motorcraft, Napa.

Most of the junk he works on, a Wix filter is the least of the vehicles issues.
Well, I'd say you're just as uninformed as the VGG individual.

It is just nearly irresponsible to label any brand as "junk" or "best" these days. Fram has been known to make some excellent filters not long ago ... The XG and TG were rightfully respected.

However, nothing stays the same. They've had issues, just like the rest of the filter market. Supply chain issues as well as corporate penny-pinching have nearly ruined the faith of the BITOG collective. The current darling is the CQ Premium, but if you give it enough time, that too shall pass.

Spend some time perusing the filter forum here and look at the failures from all the various brands. It's quite obvious there exists a need for some consistency from the general marketplace.
I've been running Wix since the 90s, haven't had a reason to change. Easy to source, have filters for 95% of my stuff, price is fair.

Fram killed many Cummins 6BTs in the 90s. To the point it was a TSB to not use Fram.
Since then, I've had no interest in considering them.
