No, I did a “short” ~5k miles run on both vehicles to kind of clean them out and now I’m going for a year. The sampling is to ensure the oil is still good, the van has the same engine as wwilson’s Durnago so I’m not too concerned about it.
Are those dirty running engines or hard on oil?? I'm getting ready to put HPL Euro 5-40 in my pristine MB 3.5 engines. The oil filters will be easy to examine so we will see.
The Pentastar isn't particularly dirty running or hard on oil. It's naturally aspirated and port fuel injected, so it doesn't have high piston temperatures or lots of fuel/soot in the oil.
