Ok I have a 1994 Dodge Shadow I have been having drivablity problems since ive had the car I got it from a older lady who got it new in 1994. I was looking online on alldata and found a service bulletin that says about the same problem mine has. It says to fix have the PCM reprogramed.
my question is if it had been done my car would have a sticker under the hood saying the PCM has been reflashed correct? mine doesnt
So do you think the dodge dealer can still reflash my pcm to correct the problem.
the labor says 0.3hrs so would I pay for the whole hour of labor

Call Dodge at 1-800-992-1997 and ask them if the recall has been done to your car. Keep pressing 0 through all messaging until transferred to a person.

You will need to give them the VIN.

If not ask them if the recall is still in effect.

Or if they can goodwill you the service.

As a last resort ask them how much this should cost in your area. They may not anser that but will give you the answer to your .3 or full hour of labor.

crazycrak,

I would just take it to the Dodge/Chrysler dealership and explain the issue to the service advisor. Either case I se no reaso why they can't reporgram it for you. Of course they'll charge you labor.

Obviously the lady you bought the car from didn't pay attention to any bulletins sent to her.

yeah the car hasnt been taking good care of it has 213K miles and had the factory air filter in it it looked like [censored].

a service bulletin is not a recall. TSBs just tell how to fix a known condition and are not covered by anything after the warranty period is over.

No, there would be no sticker saying a flash was done to the PCM.

It is a common thing and there is no special notice made of it. Most people who have a vehicle under factory warranty have had their vehicle's PCM flashed and not known it if the vehicle has been in for any kind of work at the dealer while under warranty. Pretty standard practice for a dealership to check a vehicle that is in for service( warranty or general repair/maintenance )for any flash updates. When found they are just done and usually the owner is never even notified if it is under warranty. If not and it has some flashes available they will ask if you want it done. They will just do a recall as if it was under warranty if it applies( if a recall is done the owner is notified ). As I said it is a very common thing.

That is why most people that have a custom tuned PCM or use a handheld tuner like Superchips or Hypertech are very careful to remove their custom program and return the stock program before any visits to the dealer. They know a flash may be done without their knowledge and screw things up.

As has been stated you above you could have the dealer check to see based on your VIN. With a 94 vehicle, sporting 213K on the odometer, however this will cost you to have done if it hasn't been already. Probably around $75 +/-. TSB is not a recall and thus will be on your dime.
