Doctors blood pressure machine is broke

The normal now is less than 120/80. However, any doctor prescribing meds at 130/75 is really jumping the gun. They should be talking about diet and exercise first.

My doctor wants me around 105-110 over 60-70. I am on meds and I am close to that most of the time. A lot depends on your health plus family history.

I remember when cholesterol was normal at 250, then they lowered that to 200. Now it’s even lower.

My Dr told me 129/80 is great. Over 130/90 and we need to watch it. 150/90 and need to take meds. I hit 155/100 and tried a few meds until now I'm down around 105/60 but my Dr is happy with 130/80 or lower. Cholesterol is about 220 so I'm on a statin. My meds cost me about $1 a month.

I have to BP machines at home so I know my BP before the Dr takes it.

The thing about getting your blood pressure checked at the clinic is the fact that they really aren't taking it in a way that gives an honest assessment of your blood pressure. In my case anyway, I can barely get seated in a chair that normally has low armrests before they grab an arm, wrap a cuff around it, stick the O2 reader on my finger, all while asking me questions therefore making me talk. All of these things going on will naturally have your blood pressure elevated higher than normal.
Mine is usually in the 115-125 over 75-85 range at home or at any of those pharmacy machines. It's generally higher at the clinic, but I also know for a fact that I have white coat hypertension. I do not like those settings at all.
