Do new cars require rust protection?

Hello all
I live in a very rust-prone area (near the sea, roads are always salted, constant rain and wind)
I ordered a new Mazda 3. Do new cars require underbody rust protection?

PS: I don't plan to keep this car more than 10 yrs

Unless it is all aluminum then yes it needs rust protection. Fluid film, woolwax, etc work good.

Yes, you should get rustproofing done. Mazdas are especially prone to rust

Mazda was late to using the electrophoretic coating on Mazda3's when they were made in Japan. Yeah, if you bought an 07' Mazda3, it'll rust out easy. If you buy a new Mazda3 today, I wouldn't worry about it.

For ten years, the structural integrity will be fine. the rear fenders? Maybe not. You may want to think about rust proofing the rear fenders if you are not willing to tolerate rusty fenders.

For less than ten years, keep it well washed and frequent under carriage rinsing. You don't need to do anything else. If you were planning on keeping it longer, then I would look into rust proofing.
