Diesel fuel as engine flush?

I really think a piston soak is the way to go here. Canadian Tire used to have a combustion chamber cleaner, I forget it's name, I think it was sold in a can??
Anyway, good luck!

You don't really have to reply to every entry, I appreciate your politeness, but I think you may find it 'out of character' on the Additives Forum.

This section is kind of like the Wild West, I 2nd the Piston Soak, its definetly worth a try.

I agree with pulling the plugs and putting something in there over night or longer. I was thinking carb spray cleaner or something else thats pretty strong.. Don't be like Critic and lose the straw from the can down the hole though.

Say what? Amsoil is readily available in Canada. Order it directly from Amsoil or get a local dealer to get it for you, I'm sure they have Power Foam in the local distribution center.

I reccommend that you remove the spark plugs and spray it directly on top of each piston, turn the engine over by hand, then let it soak for several hours, much better than trying to go through any booster line.

Good luck:)

Better to just buy kerosene, drain one quart, replace with kerosene, and run for 10 minutes and 1000 rpm.

have you ever shot an fid gc chromatogram to speciate diesel vs kerosine? Kero is not heavier chains than diesel, and I have no clue what "oily" means in terms of true technical terms.

Technical basis for the claim, please...

+1, Kerosene is about the same as DF1 which is a thinner diesel fuel than DF2.

I have stuck oil rings on 2001 Corolla. Used Rislone, Bardhal, CD2, Gunk Flush and now on a full OCI of 25% MMO.

All ears here.
Thanks
Where did you get the MMO? I cant find it anywhere around here.

One shot deal at a Canadian Tire store about 12 months ago, small town north of Markham. I snapped one up thinking Alright another elixir I can stock in my stash. Had no idea it would disappear or I would have emptied the shelf [about 4 bottles].

Ah, ok. Wonder why it isnt sold in Canadian Tire anymore? Its just like Fluid Film, my local CT does not sell it anymore either, I have to go to NAPA to get it.

Since it hasn't been mentioned, let me be the first to say that #2 diesel is not a lubricant and mixing #2 diesel with your engine oil is going to greatly degrade that oil's lubricating properties.

However, if your engine is otherwise ready for replacement, and you are careful to drain it all out thoroughly after 5-10 minutes or less, then it might not do any harm. And it might be worth a try, though there are other products that are actually designed to free up sticky rings.
